Airport debt to be paid off early

Monroe County officials expect to pay off the bonds for an airport expansion project 23 years early, saving the county $11 million in interest and fees.

The county issued $30.6 million in bonds to pay for the new terminal at the Key West International Airport in June 2006. The county was given 30 years to pay off the bonds, Monroe County Airports Manager Peter Horton said.

Hooray. glad to see some Keys administrative officials are able to manage a successful public service, staying on budget saving taxpayers $11 million. The rest of our elected officials should get some advice from Peter Horton.
