Isaac's path up in the air for now

Forecasters expect Tropical Storm Isaac to gain strength over the Florida Straits and possibly become a Category 1 hurricane Sunday, but whether or not the Keys will see more than raindrops remained up in the air Wednesday.

"The most interesting thing we're watching right now is if it continues to strengthen as forecasted before it gets to the Dominican Republic," National...

Seriously

Some of us have lived here all our lives, thru numerous hurricanes, and know better than to panic over a "possible" hurricane. If you're so scared ..... leave! Your efforts to put people in a panic are ridiculous.

Treat Isaac seriously

Just because it may "only" be a Cat 1..this doesn't mean the storm can't do serious damage..flooding..etc..All the media is focused on his the RNC..in Tampa..and that mayor is downplaying the whole situation..he doesn't want to lose the $$$$$$ the RNC will bring!

Re: Hurricane

Don't downplay and dismiss this hurricane- it can still produce tornadoes and massive flooding. You are on an island and will be stranded without electricity or help if/when you need it. PLEASE EVACUATE WITH YOUR ANIMALS- DO NOT RIDE OUT THE STORM AND RISK BOTH YOUR LIVES. DO NOT ABANDON YOUR ANIMALS -EVER !! REMEMBER ANDREW.....DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. Who cares about the republicans and their convention....public safety is the number one priority in this storm.

Remember Georges?

All the TV media is about the potential threat to the RNC. Well, how about the low-lying Florida Keys that is directly in the cross hairs? Anyone remember Georges? This is the same storm track. Hopefully little to nothing happens, but people need to be aware and prepared.

Last week the Citizen ran the "Andrew " story

This week they are trying to downplay a storm "Coming right us". Did they not learn anything from the past? Prepare early , don't wait . Evacuation of Key West with the construction would be a mess.

Re : Andrew

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT- PREPARE AND EVACUATE- IT"S BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.

Economic considerations.

At the last city commission meeting, duh mayor said that tourist evacuations must be carefully considered due to "economic impacts."

That tells you where our city fathers' heads are at. Safety takes a back seat to money.

And The Citizen continues to downplay Isaac when the paper should be filled with preparation advice for residents and tourists.

Personal Responsibility

Maybe the folks can worry about their own safety. They dont have to wait for the "official word". Leave when see fit to leave.
