KEY LARGO — A 47-year-old man accused of poking his wife’s nose with his finger was arrested Thursday night, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The Key Largo man was charged with misdemeanor battery.
Deputies were called the Hibiscus Lane home at 8 p.m. and arrived to find a woman upset with a red nose who stated her husband took her phone and wouldn’t give it back as he “looked for evidence of her talking to other people he didn’t want her to talk to,” reports say.
He then reportedly poked her nose with his right index finger and told her he “ought to smash” her face.
A juvenile present at the house told deputies the same, reports say.
“You police could have separated us for the night,” the man reportedly said en route to jail. “I have to work at 6 a.m. You are arresting me for poking her in the nose. Ridiculous.”
The man was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center on Plantation Key.
