After a tough week in which the Coral Shores High School volleyball team went 1-2, the Hurricanes began this week with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-5. 25-18) win over Dade Christian on Monday night in a non-district match at the Upper Keys campus.

Hurricanes Coach Kathy Ets-Hokin said her team always starts slow on Mondays and this match was no exception.

“Once again, Mondays are not our best days to have games so it took some time to get in the game and warm up a bit,” said Ets-Hokin. “The second game they played much better and in the third game they started making simple mistakes but kept it light on the court. They were getting along even with mistakes which are always good to see the team come together like that.”

Carly Lindback produced six kills and served up nine aces, Lily Costa had three kills, a pair of aces and two digs, Elise Jordan racked up a half dozen kills, served three aces and two block at the net, Riley Dobson dealt seven kills and blocked two, Sierra Jenkins had four kills and one ace, Ansley Gregis issued three kills and libero Tatiana Ayala had six digs.

The Hurricanes take to the highway today for a 7:30 p.m. non-district match at Florida Christian.
