I have not left you, I have only gone on ahead.

Richard P. Griffith “Griff” the finest of the finest left us Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 … 94 years old.

An officer and a southern gentleman, Griff was piloting B24s in the Pacific Theater during World War ll and was also involved in the Berlin Airlift.

Griff was hired as a pilot by Panagra airlines in 1952 and lived in Lima, Peru and Quito, Equador for six years. When Panagra merged with Braniff International airlines, Griff joined and became an airline captain piloting Boeing 727s and DC8s.

Griff was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, where he married his high school sweetheart, Bette Joyce. He had a happy marriage for more than 50 years and had three children, Greer, Melanie and Ashley.

Griff married again after BJ’s passing and had some happy, wonderful 15 years with his new Swedish wife, Kerstin.

A man of the great generation, men don’t ever come better than Griff. …

He will be missed and never ever forgotten by his wife, Kerstin, his children Greer, Melanie and Ashley, one grandson Hunter and stepchildren Jonathan (Hanna), Jesper (Naina) and Jannicke (Robert) and five step-grandchildren Henrik, Emil, Freja, Ebba and Teddy.

Griff, darling sweetest of men, I will always remember the happiest years of my life with you. I love you.

A celebration of a well-lived life will be held at a later date.
