Woman arrested for domestic battery
August 13, 2017
Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Cross Street on Stock Island late Thursday night to investigate a domestic battery.
Upon arrival, they found a man standing beside the street, indicating that his girlfriend of two months had punched him five times in the face, according to reports. Deputies stated that the man had multiple bruises, abrasions and blood covering part of his face and a black eye was beginning to appear.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, while deputies were attempting to interview the man, the woman was in the yard screaming, crying and yelling. They placed her in the patrol car, but she continued, at one point kicking the door until officers opened it, and then trying to jump out to get at the man again. Both she and the man reportedly told officers that she had suffered a brain injury from a traffic crash and that she had been drinking that day.
The woman continued kicking and yelling in the patrol car and banging her head against the cage. Officers transported her to the Monroe County Jail. Wendy Barto, 53, was charged with domestic battery and resisting officers/obstruction without violence.
