Schools promise records Monday

The Monroe County School Board on Thursday decided to hire an outside accountant to investigate school employees' personal use of district-issued Bank of America credit cards. It also will hire an outside attorney to serve as a liaison between the School Board and agencies that are investigating the illegal practice.

ONLY IN MONROE COUNTY. I think we all should get a turn with the district card, especially since nothing will come from this. For a slap on a the wrist it's worth it. We're in a recession I need groceries too.

School Board Fraud

As a former 19 year resident of Key West and still having many family ties there, this comes as so surprise. Seems that the people that have grown up down there and never left, or left and came back, are always looking for a way to cheat the system or scam their way through life. I hope they ALL get what's coming to them!

This is why I left this town. It's because of people like the Acevedos and the Bubbas that get away with stealing, drugs etc.... Get rid of these [people], they deserve the book thrown at them.

You have seen nothing yet. Take a gander at the tax roll and type his name in. Why doesn't he pay his taxes which are needed for the education of our youth. He can't say Monique stole any of his tax dollars because he does not pay taxes. Remember, yea who has no sin shall cast the first stone and Steve did.

He donates his salary too? Ask Kathy about that. Nowhere in Monroe County! His ex-wife will be contacting us tomorrow for more stones.

Do you have a clue what the real issue is RE the used of the cards, failure to pay personal use, failure to reconcile since July '08, intent to avoid paying State Sales Tax are starters. Focus, Focus.

What's the point of continuing to hide the unlawful credit card purchases from the public?

Isn't the excuse of calling them personel expenses really an admission of the tax fraud????

Finally someone else who knows what is going on and the Key West "Citizen" reporter won't comment on - they just pushed that right under the rug... I think they have him (John P) on salary because when the school district does anything good this guy won't report of that!!

Between the school district and the economy all this is making me drink. Only thing I can afford is cheap beer unless I can get one of those school district credit cards.
