What if she did pay for them, what if she got the credit card bill, paid it, and moved on? I believe that's what the paper said initially- are these people responsible for paying for the credit card debt they build up on the school-issued cards? Does anyone notice that the Keys school district is #1 in the state, is that by accident or by Randy? I just believe the Keys are full of wonderful flogger (I mean Bloggers) who definitely scream "GUILTY" before knowing the whole story. They love "dirty laundry"-- not ll of them, of course but soooo many floggers-- #1 school district AND #1 FLOG district

Why is she still walking the street? If I did this, I would be in jail. I want to know when MCSO plan on charging her for grand theft, fraud, uttering a forged document, credit card fraud, possession of stolen property(I don't care if all the charges don't stick, I would throw every statute I could at her. ... I think shes responsible for what she has allegedly done. But she's walking the streets because the government doesn't bring out their pitchfork and yell witch before a fair trial. Read up on your rights, you have the right to a fair trial as well.

If he didn't know of the abuses he should be fired for incompetence, if he did know he is a co-conspirator. Size XXX shirts?, yea they were for Mark house. The sad thing is we have children in our classrooms without books and supplies and she's out spending. Teachers are having to buy [supplies] for [their] classrooms. I know teachers who have been told [there isn't anymore] copy paper. So if you want your children to learn and practice what they learn it won't be in this school district. There's no more money for anything including supplies, subsitutes, and there's a hiring freeze but we have people out [wasting] money. Extremely frustrating. Unbelievable.

This was no simple "mistake" by Mrs. Acevedo. Her actions were nothing short of greed and contempt for the taxpayers dollars. $300 for sunglasses, furniture, shirts and other clothing items, vacation trips and the list goes on, and on, and on. And, it would certainly seem that there is no way that Mr. Randy Acevedo didn't have a clue that his wife was fraudulently using her County issued credit card for her own selfish wants. Mr. Acevedo needs to resign immediately or be removed from office. And, Mrs. "Just put in on the taxpayers account" Acevedo should face criminal charges and do jail time if convicted. Once that is accomplished, the County needs to put strict restrictions on any and all credit usage and put in place an audit and control process that will prevent any future sticky fingered politico from abusing the public trust for personal gain.

I was walking down the street reading the Key West Citizen on my cell phone, and I almost fell into a pothole when I saw this list of charges. This is so bad! I can't believe she might have gone diving on my dime. This is really bad!

Wow...all I can think is, WOW ! How could she be so ignorant to NOT think that at some point this whole thing might or better yet, would surface? The shame, the consequences, the loss, YOUR CHILDREN, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD !!! That should have been reason enough! Why anyone would risk this type of position, paycheck, and power, ESPECIALLY IN THIS ECONOMY, is just beyond my comprehension. She just threw away the life which some people only dream of having. The greed got the best of her...and once she was on a roll it felt too good to stop. Now look at her AND her family...slowly descending down the tubes. What a crying shame.

They get themselves into these messes, knowingly and often through arrogance, thinking they're far too good to be caught. Heck, look how arrogant Madoff became after getting away with this mess for 18 yrs or more? Just imagine what the Acevedos could've done if he was re-elected more and she continued on with her hand in the cookie jar? AND I'm sure the plan was for their kids to soon take over. After all, didn't Randy give his son a nice little 'no bid contract' last year? The arrogance!

I always at least TRY to 'put on someone elses shoes and walk a mile in them' before passing judgement. I would consider the Acevedo's peers and it's just so disappointing to see how grossly they took advantage of the position and power. I think the arrogance is supported (literally) by many others that have either/or done it themselves in the past, have 'job security' because of it or are benefiting from it now. They felt they were 'safe' because of that backing or maybe even owed to them since they 'kept those people fed'. If this investigation is as serious as it seems to be I wonder if it will eventually uncover those supporters up and down the line as well? Now that would be a total disgrace.

Just think of the yard sale the acevedos are going to have when they need cash to pay back the school district. Whew! Remember keep the offers between 25 cents and a dollar; five bucks for large items! I bet I could get them sun glasses for a buck!

We have held three or more quiet little fund raisers at the bar to donate money for the kids to have school supplies - whether their parents could afford it not - just so the kids didn't have to do without. Suddenly our little three or four hundred dollar contributions don't feel so good. I guess we'll think twice next time before we donate.

Looks like their lifestyle may change a bit now that she no longer is having the citizens of Key West pick up the tab. Whoops that's not right now we will be paying all her expenses, but she will not need sunglasses there.

How many criminal acts does it take to arrest, prosecute and convict all the perpetrators and accomplices involved in these [acts]. Are we just going to cover it in the newspapers or actually consequent this [apparent] misconduct? State Attorney cannot wait forever. Equal justice under the law requires action from him and his office.
