Feds seize lobster poachers' assets

A Cudjoe Key couple convicted in one of the largest lobster poaching cases in Monroe County history will sell their two Florida Keys homes and turn over some $1.1 million to the government as part of their plea agreement.

David and Denise Dreifort will give the money to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which will use that money to remove more than 1,500 casitas that have been illegally placed in protected waters.

The feds also have said they may confiscate at least two of their boats and vehicles used in the operation.
