Woman stabbed in Marvin Key fight

An 18-year-old Big Pine Key woman was stabbed several times during an apparent fight on Marvin Key Monday afternoon.

About 50 to 100 people had been fighting for several hours, according to witnesses who brought the victim to Sugarloaf Key Marina. The victim was not able to identify her attacker due to her level of intoxication, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies are asking the public for more information about the fight.

marvin key fight

Was Jerry Springer there? I have a question. Does this crap happen all the time... or... (as I think) do the crazy hillbillies wait until after the season is over to express their "authentic selves"?

Marvin stabbing

I happened to be at Marvin at the time of the fight. I personally called state and local law enforcement, to which their response was "we have been informed of the fight." I was there for over an hour after my initial call to which law enforcement never arrived! Can someone tell me how law enforcement was there at the beginning of the afternoon when everyone was sober, trying to bust under age drinking and drug use, but failed to be there late in the afternoon when most were, and would be intoxicated. Common sense should have prevailed, but apparently not so. We need a reform of local and state law enforcement, no more free ride from the tax payers!! please feel free to comment kgtinter2@yahoo.com

Niece stabbed

I was saddened and horrified to learn that my niece was stabbed. I live in the northwest and have no influence over her life, but understand that she needs help, now, for her drug and alcohol abuse and her family doesn't know how to reach her. It sounds like there are many young people involved in this tragedy who also need help. These are young individuals whose lives are lost and misdirected - how to transform them with hope and direction to serve the common good of all. I feel absolutely helpless and sad.
