A Monroe County State Attorney's Office investigator this morning confiscated from a Big Pine Key home several items believed may have been purchased using Monique Acevedo's school district credit card, according to State Attorney Dennis Ward.
Items included home and pool furniture, framed paintings, a mirror, bicycles, tools, a ladder, tile cutter, table saw, etc., according to Ward and witnesses.
The home at 31318 Avenue D, at the corner of Father Tony Way, belongs to Margaret Edgington and John Notaro, according to the Monroe County Property Appraiser's Office.
Edgington works in the Adult Education Department that Acevedo oversaw until her March 3 resignation. She is the General Equivalency Degree examiner, assessment coordinator and co-enrolled contact.
The owners consented to a search, Ward said.
A School Board maintenance truck was among those that carted away the items, which will be stored at a Key West High School storage building, Principal John Welsh said.
