Schools missing $16K devices

Key West High School is missing a production-level television camera, four other cameras and digital editing and video equipment worth more than $16,000, according to the school's principal.

Each school and classroom teacher in the county must track all the equipment the district issues them in excess of $1,000. Teachers are given a printout of all tools, cameras, laptops, c...

Alleged forged checks involved after the purchase of Reed Appliances. How can we trust someone who has proven how shady he is. Is he a CPA or does he pretend to be one. Would love to see a forensic auditor spend some time in his office.

Everyone knows Lydia's camp fabricated this whole thing so she could try to win the election. It is a criminal offense to operate a business in a name other than your own in the State of Florida without registering it as a DBA with the Secretary of State. I wonder also how he could operate a business without a Federal Tax ID number, state sales tax number, etc. He shouldn't even be able to open a business checking account. He probably did it as a DBA on a personal account. So in other words, he hasn't paid any business taxes or fees at all. It would also be impossible to get an occupational license in this situation. Thus without even any legal business form he couldn't possibly have any legal investors. So how did some recent high school graduate get all that audio and video equipment? One guess...

Listen people the school system was the same way when Bookie Sr. was in charge I used to hear the old timers then complaining about the going on's there. he is trying to use that old smoke screen to keep the pressure off 2nd in command Bookie Jr. we have not heard much about Jr. in all this mess and he over saw Randys wife were is the creditability for when he was in charge? its a bubba fix for now but how long will it last? I guess Bookie feels that he has to protect his kids so they can draw from the taxpayers pockets and blames it all on the finance department. as long as Jr, can I give you a hug Pedro, Sunny, the finance Dir., It Dir., and a few more hard line employees in the main office it will be business as usual. We need an outsider to take control and clean house and the old guard will fight tooth and nail to keep the Bubba Dynasty a live. we need to keep the pressure on for change if not we will be back to the drawing board till it festers again.

To order stuff, have it show up on a class printout, and for it to have never been ordered and received by that department? How stupid is that? Do they expect teachers to put their necks on the line and lie for the Acevedo mob?

Looks like Wade-boy is going to be implicated as well. After all, he's an adult and he should know if he purchased equipment or not with his own money. And as an adult, did Mommie and Daddy have to provide his means of making a living by giving him equipment and no-bid contracts? Ummm...well, is there another explanation?

The entitlement mindset of this crime family and their 'friends' is mind-blowing.

Just listen to any of the bubbas talk or read anything they write.... they all sound the same. Contractions, verb/subject agreement: it's all foreign to them. I'm so tired of hearing "you was", "we was", "they was" and seeing "your the one".

(like MOnique's did), I got screen shots of the site and am sending to the State of Florida. I did talk to the Department of Corporations in Tallahassee and they say they are not registered and are operating illegally. No big surprise here, huh? It all runs in the family, it seems.

The constant leak of negative information coming from the KWHS is very interesting. First the info about missing club money and now the info about missing video equipment. I'm sure the information is true, so I'm not accusing Mr. Welsh of fabricating information to keep his job. However, the timing of his releasing of the information is suspect. He's an old dog with lots of tricks which he developed in order to survive in the political school culture which is at the root of all this mess. We need new fresh faces with new energy. I'm sorry but Mr. Welsh finished his DROP and should retire (AGAIN) like he promised to do five years ago. We need to make a clean break at the administration level at the district office AND at the schools where possible. True change starts with the administration who sets the tone of professionalism and thus the overall school culture. Without that, it will be the same old boy network with maybe some new bubba faces but still the same old game.

classroom inventory

is given out at the very end of the school year. The classroom teacher has to verify the inventory and it has to be signed off by the teacher and another person, then turned in to the office manager, who also signs off that it was done. Teachers cannot just turn out the lights and walk away for the summer. Every single thing has to be documented and signed for, including Keys, electronics(IT items by the IT person), and classroom inventory, monies received numbered receipts, etc. That is procedure and a public record and is audited. If there are things that are missing and not accounted for, a police report would be filed from the office.

For the record, unless your admin has been ignoring protocol, that is not how it works, at least not at two upper Keys schools. NOT, having inventory would raise a red flag for me. My admin has been clear for years, no inventory, no sign off. I guess we are just rule followers.

I have lived here for 6 years. I have been to many social events. The McPhersons and the Acevedos are joined at the hip. They are alway there smiling and always drinking lots of drinks. My friends and I used to sit there and wonder when all this would catch up to them.... Thank God it has...

Saturdays Pride Fest on Duval, in front of Aqua, included live entertainment produced by Wade Acevedo. There was tons of expensive sound equipment. Did the our taxes buy that sound system? I hope the state's attorney checks the serial numbers on all of his equipment and he is held accountable too.
