Web site forums may link Acevedo to equipment

You are so caught up in being pissed off and angry that you didn't have the insight into the above comment. Obviously, the poster IS dissatisfied with the state of affairs. He/She just has a more eloquent way of conveying their thoughts. Nowhere in the post does it say that the writer has bought into "all that bull crap". Perhaps it is YOU that should keep quiet. You need to understand how a 'thread' works.

(1) The OP made a statement.

(2) Then another person responded with "speak for yourself, I'm not ashamed" and proclaimed his/her anger

(3) Then a third person said "Back off..." and ended up suggesting in his/her rant (IN CAPS, which means he/she was shouting) ANGER MANAGEMENT THERAPY

(4) The next poster then brought to the third poster's attention that someone who shouts (using caps) and screams 'BACK "OFF' in caps sounds like a bully and has no business recommending Anger Management to anyone.

So it would appear that the 4th poster indeed had it right and clearly understood it all far better than you did. If you're going to be on the internet in any type of discussion forum or comment section, you need to understand the protocol, the etiquette and the way it all works.

If you give all of this a moment of thought you will have to realize that Wade had a pretty good idea that something was "rotten in Denmark". Monique probably warned him to keep her "gift" under wraps and that's probably the reason he was seeking advice on the internet instead of going to some of the local talent that might have helped him. He had all of the connections any one might need to get advice locally, but he dared not use them.

Let's see... He researched it on line. Mom purchased it. He bragged about using it on many of his own projects. It shows up in the storage shed. He apparently no longer has the equipment. And we are told that there is no evidence that he had the equipment? Oh come on! Haven't people been convicted on less circumstantial evidence than that?

"The school was searching and equipment was never lost" - but it was also never authorized to be purchased. Who has the keys to the storage people? Someone had to put that equipment there. Smells pretty stinky to me. I bet Wade was . . . his pants, along with his parents! I think these so called storage sheds need to be locked and the keys given to authorities not school personnel. This is why there is no trace as to where this stuff is coming from. Anyone and everyone can be helping these crooks.

I don't know any prosecutor that would leave evidence in a school storgage unit.. The evidence should have been taken by the procecutors office to their own storage unit. We need to look at the way our attorney is handling this, or should I say not handling this. My husband was a procecutor and he just shakes his head everyday. There should have been many more arrests by now. There should have been more people arrested...

It would be nice if the Prosecutor was clairvoyant and knew every article that would be evidence before there was any question that it was. Maybe the Prosecutor should confiscate everything not nailed down at the school, just in case it turns out to be evidence. We've seen Prosecutors in this County arrest people before the evidence was there to do so. I'd rather have a Prosecutor that made sure everything was in order to arrest than one that listened to public opinion and went off half-cocked.

I don't hold it against the boy. I tend to doubt he would have any idea how the equipment was paid for. I suspect his [alleged] kleptomaniac parents would want to give him the impression they bought it for him. His parents, however, are [allegedly] common run-of-the-mill thieves. They do not represent the kind hearted conch families I knew growing up on the island.

Now why would Wade bid on an IT productions contract without having production equipment? He knew he had parental backing and he didn't pay a thing for the device. On deposition all the Prosecutor would have to ask is if he knew he was using School Property to bid on a contract and if he didn't know it was school property who furnished the property to him (could it be Monique and/or Randy) so he could bid on a school contract? Either answer will surely tighten the noose around their necks and the kid is allowed to escape the charge of knowingly using stolen/ill-gotten property from the commission of a crime. Unless there are witnesses that can establish the fact that he knew he was using school property to bid on a school contract, then he's beyond pleading ignorance of the law.

Only they know how much he knew, and unless it can be proven it should not be held against him. But hold him responsible for the things he did wrong himself. We've heard he received money from the school district for producing videos, yet he apparently has no occupational license from the city or county. I'm sure growing up with Mommy Monique gave him a warped perspective on entitlement, and I feel sorry for that, but he is an adult now and if he broke the law, nail him!

The question with that is (1) did he say he had a license and give falsified proof or (2) did they not exercise due diligence in verifying that he was licensed? I suspect the second. he he he

Did you get a license when you were a boy with a paper route, or does your daughter or son now have their licenses to babysit or cut grass??? A boy with a paper route is technically employed by the paper company. If you cut grass and babysit for friends and neighbors, it is okay, especially if you are a minor. When you are an adult, advertise as a business and contract for "professional" services, then that is running a business. Those that are licensed to baby sit are considered in-home child care providers and people licensed to mow grass are usually landscapers. I am sure the county would not let you open a store without an occupational license if you just wanted to try it out for a few years. Heck, that is what any enterprenuer is doing the first few years in business; you are trying it out to see if it can be sucessful. You still need a license though don't you?

I agree, Conchs are devoted to raising their families, PERIOD. CONCH IS FAMILY. Something most of these posters ran from when they moved here. I can never understand why so many people would leave their families and home towns to work three jobs in bars all night and sleep the days away-perhaps they are running from their own skeletons. Conchs understand responsibility and commitment, we pick a job and stick with it, we are not dancers, bartenders or fly by night transients. We raise our children here, contribute to the community generation after generation. ----By the way Monique is a preachers kid from the Carolinas and Jimmy Hendricks--Not a Conch either.

cigar industry move was mainly a result of Cuba's own "Revolutionary War" against Spain - Cubans in Key West were involved in helping Cuba gain its independence from Spain and Spain didn't like that so they started fires at our factories and caused arguments between the workers and the owners, etc., many factors were involved but this had a lot to do with it. Back then, Cubans and Conchs (White Bahamians) for the most part kept to their own neighborhoods (there were 3 main ones), as did the Black Bahamians, Sponging industry was hurt by the Greeks stepping on the sponge and damaging the beds b/c of the method of removing the sponge, etc., what other industries would you like for me to correct you on????? It's GRITS AND GRUNTS not grunts and grits!!!!

It's obvious who has the "bad attitude" in these posts and it is certainly not the Conchs!!! A majority of the negative comments are directed at Conchs, which I don't think these irrational people have any idea how many Conchs are out there that they are badmouthing, I mean talk about judging a huge group of thousands and thousands of people and generations, I can see Mario Sanchez rolling in his grave right now. And the newly formed term "Bubba Conch", which anyone who uses this term is revealing they have only lived here for less than year, lol!!!, (as opposed to what? A Non-Bubba Conch, or a Bubba Non-Conch, lol!!!). Yes there is a difference I guess between a Bubba and a Conch, but there's no need to write "Bubba Conch", one or the other will suffice, haha!!! Anyway, the negative comments directed toward a group whose ancestors created the culture and character and HISTORY of Key West, particularly OLD TOWN, only strengthen our strong bond and morale.
