18-Mile Stretch lane closed

The northbound lane on the 18-Mile Stretch from Mile Marker 126 in Florida City to 106 in Key Largo will be closed 24 hours a day, starting today, through July 2 for roadwork, says the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). If needed, the closure will resume July 6 through 16.

Northbound traffic will be diverted to Card Sound Road, where tolls will be lifted during the closure.

Residents and businesses between Mile Marker 126 and 106 can use northbound Card Sound Road to get back to U.S. 1. Those between Mile Marker 126 to 113 can use northbound U.S. 1.

Emergency vehicles will have access.

The work is part of the Jewfish Creek Bridge/U.S. 1 project. For more information, call 305-481-1186 or go to http://www.fdotmiamidade.com and click on construction. Motorists also can call 511 or visit http://511southflorida.com for real-time information.
