Living beyond scandal: Keys woman focus of Marie Claire article

The attractive brunette wades in her pool in the glossy magazine photo, hand on hip, talking on her cell phone. Her story, which appears in the July edition of Marie Claire, is entitled "When White-Collar Hubbies Go to Jail."

Bernadette Noe, 49, a Tavernier resident and attorney, and husband, Tom Noe, were once high rollers in the Ohio Republican Party, attending both George W. Bush inaugural balls. He was Bush's chief Ohio fund raiser and she served dual roles as chairwoman of the Lucas County (Toledo) Republican Party and the chair of the Lucas County Board of Elections.

Then, like Humpty Dumpty, the politically well-heeled couple took a great fall.

Now he is in federal prison serving an 18-year sentence after being convicted in the theft of $13 million from an Ohio investment fund, and she has moved on with her life, recently joining the Russ Cullen law firm while raising their youngest child, a daughter attending Florida Keys Community College.

The Marie Claire article focuses on Noe's life after her husband's public downfall and how she deals with the adversity.

Oh good heavens. She shouldn't have any press whatsoever

and certainly nothing sympathetic. I'm sorry but I just cannot believe a spouse can be that clueless to not know what the other is doing. She's an attorney and supposedly smart? Ugh.

She should fit right in here, even though she's not a Conch

Maybe she could go to work for the county? School system needs a few people, right?

Yeah you're right. And our

Yeah you're right. And our astute local media will do a sympathetic sob story on her without checking her out. Russ Cullen apparently isn't paying attention either. Check this wacko out yourself at http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081221/NEWS16/81...

What a wacko!

Why do these freaks always end up here in the Keys?

It's not all that different...

Her husband seemed to have been the "crook" in the family. Our local story has a set of book-ends as [alleged] criminals. Stuck between the book-ends is al least one of their kids...now that's a story worth covering in any magazine! (Just be sure not to offer payment or royalties for the story; they already took their "bonus".)
