County Planning Commission to consider proposed sign ordinance

A new county sign ordinance will go before the Monroe County Planning Commission on Wednesday in Marathon. The county started tweaking its sign ordinance after some business owners complained that they weren't allowed to place A-frame signs in their parking lots along U.S. 1. The proposed ordinance would allow the signs as long as they are not placed in the right-of-way, and would allow signs for businesses that do not have highway frontage.

Frontage

There are businesses along the highway that have "Highway frontage" but it's more than 50ft off the edge of the highway. These businesses need their sandwich boards to survive. Oh wait, I forgot, this is the Keys, the County with the anti-business and private owner County Commission.
