


JOYCE OETJENS WAMBOLD
Joyce Oetjens Wambold, 70, wife of Eugene F. Wambold Jr., of Charleston, S.C., and Key Colony Beach, Fla., lost her battle with cancer Monday, June 29, 2009. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Wambold Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter at eleven o'clock on Friday, July 3, 2009, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Entombment, Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Thursday between five and seven o'clock.
The former longtime Grosse Pointe Farms resident was born March 15, 1939, in Monroe, Mich., the daughter of Emma Louise Oetjens and Carl Oetjens. She was a 1957 graduate of Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, Mich., and a 1961 graduate of the University of Michigan, where she majored in interior design.
Mrs. Wambold was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, The Huguenot Society of South Carolina, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Garden Club of Charleston, and the Harbour Club of Charleston, the Country Club of Detroit, Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., and the Marathon Yacht Club of Marathon, Fla. She attended St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C., and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Key West, Fla. She enjoyed interior decorating, traveling and antiques.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Krysten (Stephen Jr.) Swan of Charleston, S.C., and a grandson, Aubrey Alexander Swan.
