Menendez's late grand slam lifts Cowboy Bills Reloaded

KEY WEST -- Juanito Menendez smashed a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning against Truman and White Chevron, catapulting Cowboy Bills Reloaded to a 15-11 win over the T W in recent Key West Men's Softball action at Wickers Field.

Menendez also slugged a pair of base hits for a total of six RBI, Danny Difabio went yard and singled home a pair of runs, Troy Curry hammered a two-base hit and a base hit, Jimmy Hake drove in two runs on two hits as Neil Mellies, Mikey Freebury, J.P. Castro, Shane Curry, Troy Curry and Nick Snyder each smacked a pair of base hits.

For Chevron, Milliken singled three times, Brian Barrios homered and singled driving in four runs and Ronnie Presley, Ben Blattenberger and Dylan Kibler singled twice apiece.

COWBOY BILLS RELOADED 18, GRIM'S GRILL 8

A 12-run fourth propelled the cowboys' quick win. Troy Curry went yard and he legged out an inside-the-park home run and singled for five RBI, Juanito Menendez nailed a homer and two base hits also scoring five runs. Shane Curry singled three times, Neil Mellies, Jimmy Hake and Nick Snyder clubbed two singles each as Snyder drove in two runs and Danny Difabio blasted a two run shot over the fence.

Grim's John Baltzell tripled and roped a pair of doubles as Dave Hedgecock and Bob Maun each hammered two hits.

KINO SANDALS 16, GRIM'S GRILL 5

Dexter Butler drove in three runs on a home run, double and two singles, big brother Devin Butler powered a home run and base hit for two RBI and Javy Perez went yard and singled sending home three for Kino at the plate. Tommy Mack, Clinton Storr and Tony Roberts each doubled and singled twice, Chris Hall drilled a trio of singles as Frankie Gutierrez and Shawn Niles both smacked two base hits.

Cory Wiggins singled three times, Matt McLellan booted two base hits and Ken Dispenza homered.

COWBOY BILLS RELOADED 17, KINO SANDALS 0

Once again, Juanito Menendez was the hero this time pitching a (get this) three-hit shutout in slow-pitch action. Menendez had plenty of great defense to back him and he helped his cause at the plate going 4-for-4 sending five home on a home run, double and two base hits.

Troy Curry nailed a pair of two-base hits and a base hit, J.P. Castro singled three times for two RBI and Nick Snyder and Danny Difabio each ripped two hits.

Kino's Dexter Butler, Rocky Ramirez and Tommy Mack each singled.

FIREFIGHTERS 23, CONCH TOWN 19

It took the fire eaters an extra inning to settle this showdown hosing down the local boyz. Brandon Kocis drove home five runs on an inside-the-park home run and three singles, Robert Franco and Brian Rose each slugged three hits, Kenny Wardlow, Tyrone Cervantes, Danny Galvan, Raul Franco and Marcus DeValle each ripped a pair of base hits.

Firefighters tied the game in the top of the seventh with five runs and threw the knockout punch with the final four in the eighth. Conch Town's Alberto Pumar was 4-for-5 sending four home on a home run and three singles, Radier Gonzalez drove home two runs via a triple, double and a base hit, Joey Diaz singled three times for two RBI, James Robinson and Lucas Bacle each scored two runs on two hits as Frankie Veliz and Kiki Lopez each stroked a two-base hit and a base hit and Joal Rivero crushed two singles.

FIREFIGHTERS 16, SIBONEY 15

It was another barn-burner for the Firefighters scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh on back-to-back home runs by Kenny Wardlow and Tyrone Cervantes. The duo drove in two runs apiece as Wardlow added a three-base hit and Cervantes singled. Benny Lowe did plenty of damage scoring five runs on a pair of homers, Raul Franco singled three times for a pair of RBI and Marcus DeValle and Danny Galvan each hammered two hits.

Siboney's Eric Hernandez homered, doubled and singled for a pair of runs scored, Oscar Norrio, Mike Carey and J.C. Edwards each drove in two runs on two hits and Freddy Manza nailed a two-base hit and a base hit.

ANGELINA'S 22, CONCH TOWN 19

The guys with the nice uniforms iced the game with two runs in the seventh and stopped Conch Town's last-inning ditch effort for a win. Marquis Butler and Howie Schneider each went 5-for-5 as Butler drove in three runs, Eddie Griffiths doubled and singled three times for three RBI, Julio Ayerdi was 4-for-4, Jorge Martinez slapped a trio of base hits, Paul Gardner drove in three runs on two hits and Steve Josephs singled twice.

For Conch Town, Alberto Pumar homered twice and doubled sending five home, Joal Rivero singled three times for two RBI, Joey Diaz cracked three base hits and Radier Gonzalez, James Robinson and Doug Holmes each walloped two singles.

COWBOY BILL'S 11, ANGELINA'S 4

Ryan Baker went yard and singled sending three home, Chino Gonzalez drove in two runs on a pair of two-base hits, Juan Ayerdi singled twice for two RBI as Tony Mendez, Ariel Sanchez and Slayton Kannan each cracked two hits.

Angelina's Marquis Butler doubled two times for two RBI and Julio Ayerdi singled twice.

KINO SANDALS 25, CHARTERBOAT ROW 0

Ouch, another shutout in men's softball but this was not nearly as bad as getting shutout on the water.

Tony Roberts, Nelson Hills and Geoff Lemos each went 4-for-4. Hills drove in five runs highlighted by three doubles, Roberts tripled and sent a pair of runners home and Lemos doubled twice for two RBI. Rocky Ramirez homered, doubled and singled with four RBI, Dexter Butler went yard and singled added four RBI, Javy Perez tripled and singled twice and Frankie Gutierrez roped two base hits.

COWBOY BILL'S 29, CHARTERBOAT ROW 2

Julio Ayerdi doubled twice and crushed a home run, Ryan Baker drove in five runs on a triple and three singles, Clayton Kannan homered, doubled and nailed a base hit for four RBI, Francis Jaycocks must have found a new set of legs as he doubled twice and singled sending four home, Tony Mendez drove in three runs on three hits, Tony Alfonso, John Harris, Ariel Garcia, Yosmel Samuano and Chino Gonzalez each slugged a pair of hits as Garcia drove in three runs and Samuano had two RBI.
