MONROE COUNTY

Cancer nonprofit expands

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Miami/Fort Lauderdale affiliate is expanding to include Monroe County, the nonprofit focused on breast cancer said this week.

It will bring its breast health/breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs -- which the Florida Keys have lacked -- throughout the 110-mile chain of islands, the press release says.

"The expansion will help us offer resources to women who have limited access to health care," said Betsy Langan, executive director of WomanKind Inc., which offers care to Florida Keys women. For more information, call 305-383-7116 or e-mail info@komenmiaftl.org.
