Foster parent training offered

Foster homes are needed throughout Monroe County.

Any one interested in becoming a foster parent is invited to attend Wesley House Family Service's foster parent training class starting July 20.

The 10-week training will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. each week in Key West at the agency's Habana Plaza Office, 3114 Flagler Ave.

People from all backgrounds, lifestyles and income levels are welcome, including people who are married, have partners or are single.

Learn communication skills

The Florida Keys Society for Human Resources Management will host a mini-workshop, "The Art of Global and Cross Cultural Competencies," presented by Carol Susan DeVaney from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel's Flagler Ballroom.

This two-hour workshop will explore a personal framework people can use to communicate more effectively with those who are different from them. The workshop will help people understand the hidden elements that make up culture. A resource list of ideas to help continue to build cultural expertise will be provided.

AT&T launches Mobile TV

AT&T has expanded the availability of AT&T Mobile TV to roughly 20 new markets around the country, including Miami and the Florida Keys, giving more users on-the-go access to TV programming on their mobile phones.

The expansion was enabled by the June 12 transition to digital TV, bringing the new service to a total of more than 80 markets around the country. A comprehensive coverage map is available at http://www.att.com/mobiletv.

AT&T Mobile TV subscribers have access to full-length programming from 12 leading brands. The service is available on the LG Invision, LG Vu, Samsung Access and Samsung Eternity phones.
