Finding outsider proves difficult
Governor continues to interview interim superintendent candidates

It may be harder than anticipated to find an outsider to run the Monroe County school district until a permanent superintendent is back at the helm.

Following the June 11 suspension of Schools Superintendent Randy Acevedo, Gov. Charlie Crist's spokesman predicted a candidate would be selected within a week. Nearly a month later, Crist still is interviewing candidates.

Bye-Bye Key West Bubbas

Guess what- your reign is over. Even if you can get all of Key West to back you, the rest of Keys voters are just not that stupid. Bookie, Mikey, Frannie, & the rest of you are done!!!!

Keys Residents "not that stupid"?

OK you are saying they are stupid but not "that" stupid. How about ignorant? Look up the difference . . .

Bring Bookie Back

Crist should appoint Bookie for interim position. Let the anti-Randy squad even try to attack him because they won't stand a chance. Despite some of the posts in here the majority of the people of Key West trust and like Bookie and his family. Bookie is a gentleman's gentleman and has such internal strength and integrity that none of these clowns could hold a candle too. Besides he would be the best pick so when Mike Henriquez is elected to the Super position at the next election he can succeed his father in office. You will be surprised at the local support Mike will get in the election just wait and see. Mike Henriquez For Superintendent 2010.... go Mike......

Bookie?

Remember he is the father, mentor and who knows what else to all this . . . They learned from him. He is dirty and I have first hand knowledge of his dirt.

Who

Who would walk into this mess? You have three members of the board wanting to work for education. And two members trying to tear everyone in the district down. The two are making rules as they go and spending money to duplicate work that is aready been done by the state. End the Auditor and Lawyer contract NOW!

Totally agree

I want the ole days back when you could go to Bookie if you needed help or a favor. He has always been there for me and my family. He ran the system and did not allow people to tell him what to do. If he thought it was right he did it, Period. I don't know why the governor will not just take care of the system with an appointment of Bookie. He can train Mike to do it like he did and then Mike can run and win hands down. Mike is a good man and should not be punished for the crimes of others. He was new to the job and just did not know. He volunteers all over the place and has been an honorable man since his birth. Just because his father was superintendent for 25+ years does not mean he should not get the job. His sister is also a awesome educator with a Phd. I would not mind having them as a team. Outsiders, you should remember you came to us and we did not come to you. Something attracted you to this island and it was good enough to bring you here. Leave the islanders alone. We are doing what made you want to live here. I agree with the previous point "Bring Bookie Back". Also, Morgan McPherson is a outstanding man. To say he was thrown out of a bar is ridiculous. He does not even dring to my knowledge because he is a pastor of a church. To slander a man and his wife of such high moral and ethical standards is a joke. And for the school board, what you did to Christina was also very wrong. Everyone is this town knows she is the backbone of the high school. If you have a problem you call her and she will get it fixed immediately. I have a daughter at KWHS and she tells me all the kids go to Christine because the rest of the administrative staff is just their filling space. Christine, I am sorry what they did to you it is totally wrong, but you will get your day real soon when things go back to the way they should be.

Bookie is "god like"

How much do you owe Bookie for all the favors he did for you and your family? I guess your post paid him back.

Yes, Let's continue the dictatorship

Intimidation, reprisal, mental abuse...just what it has been for the last five years and when Bookie had his reign. Sound familiar? History repeats itself. Long live, King Bookie.

Bookie

It's nice to have leadership, but the law is for all people: No taxpayer money can go for personal use.

It will be Cold day in hell

It will be Cold day in hell before another Henriquez gets elected. Bookie management skills started this problem a long time ago and he still has to have his fingers in it. Enough is Enough. The School board Bubba empire is falling apart.

I wish you were right

But they have the money, the power and the persuasive methods to get anyone they want elected.

Bookie's time in office...

likely set the tone for the establishment the culture with which we are currently being victimized. Remember, he's the one who recommended that we "keep the status quo", even as the corruption was exposed as being worse than anyone had imagined.

Difficult is the least of it

It's going to be very expensive. We'll be stuck paying moving costs, per diem costs, etc., etc.. If we need someone on short temporary basis then bring back Bookie. He knows the job, and he wasn't involved in this fiasco in any way. Of course the anti-Randy people will attack him because he is a friend of Randy.

I guess you have bubba blinders on

Bookie Sr. is the ring leader.

Bookie wasn't involved?

Who are you kidding!

You must be delusional

Most everyone at this webpage agree that Bookie has a big part to play in this mess http://keysnews.com/node/14375

Who in their right mind

and with the right qualifications and education credentials would volunteer to work with the current school district administration and a spineless school board that was and still is responsible for this whole mess? A.J. Henriquez stacked the deck and this community allowed it to happen when they voted bubba instead of qualifications. WHOEVER does step up to the plate for Crist better have a big set of kahunas and the courage to do the right thing despite the cannonade. My hope is that that person will remember what he or she has volunterred for; service to children, community, and to future generations. JFKulick

I know Gov Crist.

Hey let the governor do it lol. he can come down and be the one since he cant find someone. Or let the Ex bush do it lol.

Kahunas

Aren't they from Hawaii?

It's Cojones

not many of those in the Keys, if they were we would clean the slate of worthless politicians, both county and the municipalities.

candidates

Can't blame anybody for being hesitant to relocate for a job that might only last a few months, and those months being the height of hurricane season...is the Gov bound to follow the board's resolution about only hiring an outsider?

As a Taxpayer "What Ever It Takes" to rid the bad Apples

As a Taxpayer "What Ever It Takes" to rid the bad Apples in the Admin Building. Poor Bookie he must be pissed that the School Bubba Empire he created is slowly falling. Remember ROME Bookie Remember Rome fell for the same reasons I guess you didn't read that text book oh thats right you never taught a class.

Same thing happen when they axed Willi

and in the end they got a bigger idiot....Gastesi....there was nothing wrong with Willi except he didn't want to eat Neugent Doo-Doo.
