School Board chairman is subpoenaed

Monroe County School Board Chairman Andy Griffiths has been subpoenaed by suspended Superintendent Randy Acevedo's attorney to answer questions in connection with Acevedo's official misconduct case, School Board attorney Richard Collins said Tuesday.

"Catherine Vogel subpoenaed Andy, and so far he's the only board member," Collins said shortly before Tuesday's School Board meeting.

Griffiths said he cannot comment on the subpoena because it is part of an ongoing investigation.

Acevedo is charged with trying to mislead Finance Director Kathy Reitzel as she investigated the purchase of an XM Satellite Radio subscription charged to the school district credit card of Acevedo's wife, former Adult Education Coordinator Monique Acevedo.

Prosecutors believe Acevedo submitted a forged letter typed on the letterhead of Monroe Association of ReMARCable Citizens, stating the subscription was obtained for the benefit of the agency's developmentally handicapped clients.

Collins sent an e-mail Monday to School Board members outlining Florida statutes that govern depositions, and the rights of those who are asked to make statements.

Amazing that all the Randique supporters are still harping on how terrible John and Steve are. I know these two people personally and they are ALL about the students and teachers. What's sad is that when we get honest people who want to make a difference, there's always the hate mongers who are there to trash them. I'm sure you would have wanted Gonzalez and Estonez (Randy lovers) to win the elections so they could have continued the cover-up for King Randy.

[Allegedly] CHOSE TO hide deceive, lie, cheat, ignore,and abuse the system and the taxpayer all in the name of vanity and false power. Now, they are squirming in their shorts as it is time to answer to the public and the courts. Politics always gets in the way of ethics. I say we take a stand and DEMAND better. All currently involved are lame ducks at this point. Make sure your next set of leaders have the student's, teacher's, and taxpayer's best interest in mind, not their own.

Lets see, Vogel now wants to find a way to sidetrack the important issue of theft by Monique and Randy by throwing others under the bus to make a diversion. It will work and mark my words Monique and Randy will end up walking scott free. They are making a mockery of the justice system by the bubbas and it will work in small town Key West.

Don't kid yourself because here is the scenario of the Dick Bros. Steve would throw anyone under the bus to advance his political position and if you looked as the bus was running over you John would be driving.

Let's ignore the [alleged] theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars and focus on a few emails between board members trying to sort out all of Randy's [alleged] lies. It is obvious you are just mad that they were right about Randy and his bull and you are WRONG!

The problem isn't just the Acevedo mess, the problem is that Dick and Pribamski are just as corrupt and don't care one bit about the schools. They are just Padgett's pawns carrying out his revenge for his getting trashed repeatedly at the polls by we the people of Monroe County. Their corruption will be revealed in time.
