Schools chief seeks speedy trial

A judge today will decide whether the schools superintendent will receive the speedy trial he requested Thursday.

An 8:45 a.m. hearing is scheduled in circuit Judge Mark Jones' courtroom in the Freeman Justice Center to consider the motion filed Thursday by Schools Superintendent Randy Acevedo's attorney, Catherine Vogel.

The judge would have five days to...

This article should be entitled Suspended Schools Chief

Why give him any more status? He doesn't deserve being called the chief of anything.

We can hope the SA's adding charges - that'll throw a monkey

wrench into their little plot. That'll slow his trial down to come, hopefully, after hers. Besides - he could get NEW charges from her trial revelations. We know he was complicit. The question is whether the Bubba system will let his really huge butt go.

I am awaiting a speedy trial

I am awaiting a speedy trial also, it will be nice when this is over.

Smart attorney

Get Acevedo's trial over before his wife's. That way he can't be tried again for evidence that comes out about him (like that he did know what she was doing for 5 years) in her trial.

who cares what you want randy

you burned our kids.what comes around.getting hot is it??

Not surprising

The Big Bubba wants to get it over with as quickly as possible to avoid having to face the rest of the stuff involving him that will come out in Monique's trial.

Whether

you believe he's guilty or innocent it shows that Randy's number one priority is the children because he wants this issue settled quickly.

Bull!

He wants his trial over with so he can focus on his next folly! If his number one priority were the children, he never would have put himself in his current, precarious position. Do you need a band-aid for that bleeding heart of yours?

What happened to the article on Bruce King?

It had over 60 comments and needs to be placed under the School Scandal articles as a prime example of Henriquez's inability to cut where is most needed: over paid administrators.

I knew this would be their next move

Of course, they want to delay Monique's trial and speed up Randy's. If they are successful and Randy's trial is first, then all the evidence that will come out in Monique's trial which will show that Randy HAD to have known about what she was doing, won't be heard till it's too late. These trials need to take place outside this county. The Bubba regime will be in the courthouse every day intimidating the jury just like they do to the teachers, School Board and everyone else who is not in their court.
