Monique Acevedo hit with 2 new charges

Monique Acevedo was released from jail Friday after posting a $10,000 bond on two new felony charges.

Acevedo, 41, was charged with two counts of theft of more than $300 but less than $5,000, third-degree felonies punishable by a combined maximum of 10 years in prison, plus the maximum 60 years from her previous arrest.

posting here! You people don't have the nerve to post here when it's a really ACTIVE thread. You wait til it goes down the list, then you start screaming about posts that offend you, all to appease your Bubba handlers. Well, people, I'm sorry it offends you but the Citizen has done it's job ADMIRABLY! We love it that the truth is out there! And your filthy Bubba friends are in the middle of this mess up to their fat necks. I don't see your names here, but I'm sure your posts are condoned by your crooked Bubba leaders.

WE aren't going to post our names simply because we don't want any of the fat, thug Bubbas and their thug kids threatening us. We know how filthy and crooked they are and we aren't dumb enough to put ourselves at risk.

I'm betting YOUR kids are our there stalking tourists and others all night. Maybe you should start paying attention to your kids instead of sitting around posting about what a shame it is that someone says something negative about your Bubba crook friends? Truth hurts, doesn't it?

Leave them out of this. It must have been awful for them to have to go to school each day after the mothers arrest. I would certainly let other family members take them away from Keys.

in us. Myself included. I have decided not to write to the commentary posts from here on and I have written negative posts. Their poison is affecting me more than the fact they have stolen my tax monies I contribute every year to the school system. They have also stolen my trust of humankind. I'm not naive and I know there are a lot of people out there ready to take from honest people...you just hope it's not in your small hometown by people you should be trusting. Randy and Monique, I hope you are reading a lot of these posts...you can learn a lot about how deeply you have hurt people. All these writers do have every right to feel the way they do. Most of us would at least appreciate seeing some remorse.

As of 7/17/09 they have not backed off even the tiniest bit from earlier statements that they've done absolutely "nothing wrong". Nor have thier lawyers, pleading them "not guilty".Last time I checked, that still means "not" guilty... Of anything. Deal with it. They can't wait to get back to serving the children. As soon as this,as Micheal Halpern put it, little "misadventure", is over....

then what happened to all the money that is missing. Could you please give us a reasonable explanation to what happened to the money if Mo & Randy are not responsible? I think we all deserve some answers to what happened to our tax money. As Superintendent, Randy's job is to answer these questions. If he cannot/will not, then he is not doing his job.

i think it's terrible that we allow our only local newspaper to post vicious comments like this about anybody. if people feel strongly about it, let them write a letter to the editor with their name on it. you posters are scary vicious people who hide behind anonymity. also, the damage this does to the "one human family" image of kw is immeasurable. this is terrible.

I think you can sign these posts, and your name is printed, sign your name. Every once in a while someone does identify themselves. The post means more if there is a name attached. These posts don't really mean a lot to me anyway, just someone's opinion and I have my own. I know how honest Mike and all the Henriquez are. I have always heard about Monique and her use of her credit card, way back to when she was NOT head of her department. When her office was at Harris School, that was a long time ago. The Henrizuez family is great. All of you should be grateful for Bookie and his caring what happens to education in Monroe County. All the family is smart and hard working.

Hi, my name is Martha Russo. Not a Conch, but a former resident of Key West. I am just hoping for the best with the School System. The students are the ones to suffer. Education in Monroe County doesn't need a distraction like this. The isolation of the island, no private schools to speak of, the public school system is all they have and it has to stay above reproach. I just hope the teachers don't have to pay out of pocket for supplies. That is not fair at all, they shouldn't even have to pay for anything that pertains to educating their students. Am I rambling, is my spelling, grammer and punctuation OK? Please advise, as I graduated from Key West High School, and would like to blame someone for errors. Sorry if I offended anyone, but the Henriquez family is top notch and all are honest, hard working people with great ethics. Leave Mike alone and let him do his job. He will give you 110%. Just because you may like someone it doesn't mean they are good at their job. You need to read the report just released by the forensic auditor. I think maybe Mikey hasn't been giving the job anywhere near 110% He approved Monique's purchases and failed miserably in providing adequate oversight for his departments.

Sunny Booker is in so many pics with the kids I would think she was one of them. MOnique has over 1000 friends on Facebook. Lots of them are still in high school (Creepy Hugh!) Hey, there are fine cosmetologists working at Supercuts. Monique looks like she did the job herself. I suspect that most of the people who work at Supercuts were trained at the high-school, where Monique stole all the money. Adult education belongs at the community college, not on a high-school campus. I wouldn't step foot on that property if the classes were free.

This will be a great Dog the Bounty Hunter show when Monique and Randy don't show up for court for whatever reason they or their lawyer come up with. I can see Dog and family running around 117th Terrace with their pepper spray guns getting all the Conchs to give him leads to their whereabouts, only to be mis-directed by the Bubbas in town. It is possible that she has a terrible addiction. This could explain her [alleged] wild thievery! Look how she [allegedly] stole the money and there is no possible way she could spend so much just on her self. I know people who smoke crack and they have told me they have spent as much as $2000 a day to smoke crack. The more they smoked the more they craved! They turned to stealing to support their ravenous habit. Poor poor monique she needs help.

Good grief, lady, WHAT were you thinking during your career of ripping us off? Of course the greater theft is the big bucks you [allegedly] stole through credit card and procurement fraud... but [allegedly] stealing money the kids made through sales of T-shirts, dance tickets, "Boo-grams", Christmas candy, etc is so despicable -- direct theft from children. Sure, in the technical legal sense, you're not guilty until found so in court, but I got news for you, lady... even if by some weird twist you're acquitted, you're far from innocent, and it's all over for you. Her counterpart in Marathon, Tools, supplies, trips and a take home car, The law needs to look into the other side of her at the Carreer person who also supported Randy's campaign by having the shop class at Marathon High contruct signs and Poster stakes for Randy. What were his qualifications? Now rumor has it that he will teach shop, why does Marathon need two shop teachers? Lots of questions that need answers.
