Troubled district starts new year

Financial scandal, salaries among challenges interim superintendent faces

School starts this morning, but it's like no other first day of school in recent years.

Though the principals and assistant principals are in place, the teachers are in the classroom and the students arriving on campus, the district's suspended superintendent is in a courtroom downtown facing charges of official misconduct.

to reading this. ETHICS!! Ask the former deputy superintendent (and I don't mean Mike H.) about ethics AND morals. Yeah, that's you, Frankie!! I guess she missed that course. Too bad she's retired.

KWHS charging students $5.00 a year for their lockers

KWHS are charging students $5.00 a year for lockers. The parents and the students have the Acevedo's and whole corrupt system to thank for this development. Next, they will be putting "pay" bathrooms to make up for the budget shortfall. It's disgusting.

The School Board needs to elect John Dick Chairman

Now the School Board needs to do their part and elect John Dick Chairman. John, along with Dr. Burke, can make some real changes in the school district. We need fearless, decisive leadership and that certainly is not what we have had in the past year.

John/Steve problem

If they would do there job and not try so much to promote themselves, and how about working with the rest of the board, things might get done. Oh and you want the one with the least education to run tha school board? And his buddy is any better? My vote is for the others who know what is going on and not in the Citizen pocket for fast stories. Get rid of Steve and John and let the ones who know what they are doing work and dirrect the district. Like most this will not be posted but I tried.

Thank you Dr. Burke for stepping up to the plate to clean up our county's educational system. So glad you have arrived. The winds of change have arrived for our children. Next step is to have John Dick as Chairman of the School Board. I want to be once again proud of this system.
