


Fishermen's Hospital names Acker CFO
Carmen K. Acker recently was promoted to the position of chief financial officer at Fishermen's Hospital, after a six-month term as interim chief financial officer.
Before that, Acker served as accounting director for three years, as well as the business office manager for nine years. In her managerial roles, she was named manager of the quarter three times and was awarded manager of the year in 2004.
Acker graduated magna cum laude from Saint Leo University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Administration degree.
Housing Authority staff recognized
Linda Hinchcliffe was recognized and congratulated for her 25 years of service to the Key West Housing Authority at the board's August meeting.
Hinchcliffe started with the agency in 1984 as executive secretary to the executive director. Her contributions to the agency include supervisor of the Community Development Office; preparation of grants through the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and director of administration and human resource. She also is responsible for safety and risk management issues.
She represents the Housing Authority by serving on the board of Florida Keys Society for Human Recourse Management, and the Southernmost Homeless Assistance League. She also is the secretary for Monroe Association of ReMARCable Citizens.
Also at the Housing Authority, Gilda Boza was selected as the employee of the third quarter.
Boza began her career with the housing authority in February 2005 as SPO program coordinator. She now serves in the capacity of CDO program coordinator, handling numerous programs such as HOPWA, the Mayor's Revolving Loan Fund and affordable work-force housing.
Though not in attendance, the board also recognized Larry Pierce for 15 years of service, Melissa O'Flynn for 10 years, and Alberto Pumar and Enrique Hernandez for five years.
Centennial's Hall named Star Employee
Vincent Hall, a teller at Centennial Bank's Key Largo branch since May 2008, was named the July Star Employee of the Month.
"Vince always comes to work enthusiastic and with a smile," said Jennifer Hawkins, Key Largo branch manager. "Our customers notice his consistently positive attitude and appreciate that he considers them part of his 'work family.' "
Centennial Bank designed the Star Employee Program to reward employees for maintaining the bank's standard of customer service, meaning they have no unscheduled absences, maintain a positive attitude, and they willingly and happily serve their customers and each other with caring and respect. Each Star Employee receives $100, a paid day off and a recognition plaque.
