Mariners Hospital honors Hough

Kim-Sue Hough has been named Employee of the Quarter at Mariners Hospital.

A Key Largo resident, Hough has been employed by Mariners for 10 years. She currently is an environmental technician in the Environmental Services Department. Before joining the hospital, Hough owned and operated the laundromat in the shopping center adjacent to the hospital

Hough's fellow employees nominated her based on her work ethic and outstanding teamwork. She received a $250 bonus check and other gifts, as well as a designated parking space.

Key Largo chamber elects board

The Key Largo Chamber of Commerce recently elected its new board of directors.

Winning two-year seats were: Nola Acker, First State Bank; Dawn DeBrule, Upper Keys Marine Construction; Kristin George, Key Largo Resorts; Rick Hill, Key Largo Fisheries; Rob Mitchell, Keys Diver Snorkel Tours; Cheryl Powers, Sea Tow Key Largo; Jim Saunders, Bayview Homes; Robert Stoky, Florida Keys Restaurant Management; and Russ Yagel, Hershoff, Lupino & Yagel.

They join sitting board members Chairman Nelson Lazo, Mariners Hospital; Christi Allen, Pilates in Paradise; Rob Bulkiewicz, Mariner's Resort; and Chairman-elect Amy Pierson, TIB Bank.

Coming off the board are Travis Bennett, Everyone Loves a Gentle Dentist; Bob Marshall, Rib Daddy's Steak & Seafood; Margie Whisenhunt, The Reporter; Immediate Past Chairman Katrina Lavene, K&W Self-Storage; and Tom Tharp, retired.

Washington celebrates decade at KFCU

Laura Washington, Peary Court branch manager, recently celebrated her 10-year anniversary with Keys Federal Credit Union.

Washington started at the credit union in 1999 as a Key West High School intern. After completing high school, she was hired as a teller and moved quickly through the ranks. During her 10 years with the credit union she has held various positions, including member service representative and assistant branch manager. She was promoted to her current position in 2005.

Washington has earned several credit union awards, including Manager of the Year, Member Quality Service and perfect attendance.

"I am delighted to have Laura on my management team," said Chief Operating Officer Julie Cuneo. "She has lived up to every expectation and continues to excel. I thank her for her continuous dedication to quality and commitment to Keys Federal Credit Union and the members she serves."

Washington holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from St. Leo University. She also is a member of the Rotary Club of Key West.
