First State Bank promotes Monroe

First State Bank has announced the promotion of Michael Monroe to loan administration officer/commercial and consumer credit manager.

Joining First State Bank in 2005 as credit coordinator, Monroe was promoted to credit analyst I in August 2006 and credit analyst II in October 2007.

"Michael demonstrates tremendous initiative, analytical capability and enthusiasm," said Gary Carney, First State Bank executive vice president and senior loan administration officer. "These attributes in addition to his positive attitude and commitment to quality work make him an integral part of our team."

Monroe holds a doctorate in neuroscience from Louisiana State University and is published in several scientific journals, most recently The Journal of Neuroscience. He is an active volunteer for Easter Seals of the Florida Keys and lives in Key West.

Coldwell Banker recognizes agents, staff

During August 2009, several Coldwell Banker Schmitt Real Estate Co. sales associates achieved milestone service anniversaries.

Curt Barlow of the Key Largo office marked his nine-year anniversary, while Donna Mullins of the Lower Keys office celebrated six years, Marsha Martin of the Middle Keys office marked five years, and Kip Hoover of the Key Largo office marked four years.

Benkoczy named consumer loan manager

Francesca Benkoczy has been promoted to consumer loan manager at Keys Federal Credit Union. In her new position, Benkoczy will supervise the credit union's entire consumer lending operation, including car and boat loan underwriting.

Benkoczy joined the credit union in August 1998 as a consumer loan officer. She was promoted to senior consumer loan underwriter in 2005. Benkoczy has played an instrumental role in the growth and expansion of the credit union's consumer loan portfolio, the company said. She also has earned numerous awards during her tenure at the credit union, including being named Rookie of the Year in 1998, earning the title of Top Loan Producer three times in her 10-year career, and also awards for Innovator of the Year and Member Quality Service.

Benkoczy attended the University of Wisconsin and received a bachelor's degree in business communication. Originally from Wisconsin, she relocated to the Florida Keys 15 years ago.

Centennial's Sylvia celebrates five years

Centennial Bank Facilities Manager Ted Sylvia has been named Star Employee of the Month. He also celebrated five years with the bank in September.

"Ted has always been a dedicated worker," said Teresa Condas, Florida region president. "He is always pleasant, upbeat and willing to do whatever is needed."

Centennial Bank designed the Star Employee Program to reward employees for maintaining the bank's standard of customer service, meaning they have no unscheduled absences, maintain a positive attitude, and they serve their customers and each other with care and respect. Each Star Employee receives $100, a paid day off and a recognition plaque.
