


Architects gain designations, promotion
mbi | k2m Architecture Inc. announced that Anthony Sarno and William Shepler have furthered their careers by gaining professional designations.
Shepler, a project architect based in Key West, is the most recent member of the firm to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation (LEED-AP) from the U.S. Green Building Council. He currently is working on the city of Key West's new Administration Building Complex, which is designed to achieve a minimum of LEED Silver certification.
Sarno, who relocated to Key West in June, has become a registered architect and has been promoted to project manager in the Key West office.
Sarno has a bachelor's degree in architecture from Kent State University in Ohio and has been working professionally for more than five years. He has experience with residential, commercial, and hospitality projects, as well as land planning and environmentally conscious design.
DeMoss Financial adds executive to staff
Elizabeth H. Hess has joined DeMoss Financial as a sales executive in charge of health insurance products for groups and individuals.
Hess was an insurance account manager and senior business development specialist for large insurance brokerage firms in Wisconsin before recently relocating to the Florida Keys. She has a Bachelor of Science from Michigan Technological University and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree.
DeMoss Financial, which is in Islamorada but serves the entire Keys, offers insurance for groups and individuals, financial planning, wealth management and investment advisory services.
Coldwell Banker Schmitt recognizes staff
Several Coldwell Banker Schmitt Real Estate Co. sales associates achieved milestone service anniversaries in September.
General Manager Ed Anderson, who also serves as sales manager for the Key West and Marathon offices, celebrated 11 years with the company.
Amy Puto and Drenda Collins of the Marathon office celebrated eight years. Puto came to the company as its marketing director, and became an agent in 2001. Collins is the director of agent marketing and provides marketing/advertising support to all of the company's agents.
Tim Lyman of the Islamorada office reached his seven-year anniversary, Wanda Brock, of the Middle Keys office marked her fifth year and Jamie Engel of the Islamorada office marked four years with Coldwell Banker Schmitt.
Gym welcomes new trainer, instructor
Raquel Robbins has joined the fitness team at Key West Island Gym on White Street. Robbins is an Aerobics and Fitness Association of American certified personal trainer, a licensed massage therapist, award-winning competitive body builder and sports model. She will be offering classes in cardio kickboxing, core stretching and full body sculpting.
