1101 HORACE O'BRYANT MIDDLE SCHOOL

Mrs. Fausett's seventh-grade geography classes would like to thank Thomas Haskins, Marie Ohayon, and Sarah Fuller for their help assisting students in a global positioning system scavenger hunt that led students throughout the school campus. With a hand-held GPS receiver and a blank map, students received a clue and then navigated the campus to other clues.

"This project helped to bring real world applications to our class and make geography real to our students," Fausett said. "Our students would not be able to participate in events like this without the help and support of our parent volunteers."

The health and physical education students of the month are: Andrew Hetu, Kimberly Henkel, David Zeledon, Logan Ferdelman, Selyne Casas, Quintin Carson, Lisette Albruy, Carrera Ondrey, William Duran, Hellmut Augustin, Ashlyn Katz, Tamiya Major, Errol Shapior and Braondon Shellito.

The reading and language arts students learned from a guest speaker who described Teen Read Week. Local author Michael Haskins spoke to students about writing and how to become an author.

Two seventh-grade students have been recognized for their excellent behavior. Deiondria Lewis and Kaitlyn Viers were honored as role models who display exemplary behavior at all times. Congratulations to these two students.

HOB welcomes its new student resource officer, sheriff's Deputy Henry Arroyo.
