LILLIAN L. LOPEZ

Lillian L. Lopez, formerly of Key West, passed away peacefully in Ocala, Fla., on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the age of 91, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was the wife of the late Judge Aquilino Lopez Jr.

Lillian was born in Key West to Maude and Arturo Lujan. She attended Convent of Mary Immaculate and graduated in 1936. She met Aquilino while working as a secretary for attorney Allen B. Cleare. Aquilino, a prominent single young attorney, and Lillian fell in love immediately, marrying on Jan. 9, 1939. Aquilino served as circuit judge in Key West until his death in April 1971.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Arthur Lujan; mother, Maude Sanchez; and nephew, Hilario Ramos Jr.; and one great-grandson, Zachary Valenzuela. She is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Timmy) Valenzuela; grandsons, Al (Michelle) and Gabriel (Cheryl); and great-grandchildren, Logan and Tatiana. Nieces are Denise (Suneil) Handapangoda, Kim (Don) Pollo, Susan (Rocky) Goins and Lauren Anderson and Matilde Ramos; and two nephews, Arthur Wayne (Andrea) Lujan and William Ramos. A loving sister-in-law of many years, Betty Toppino.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
