Morays blow away Snappers behind Milliken's 5-for-5

KEY WEST -- It was a reversal in roles last week in the opening game of the Jewfish League.

With the wind blowing out, the bottom dwelling Morays ripped the first-place Snappers for 16 runs in their first two at-bats and cruised to a 23-19 win at DeWitt Roberts Field.

Harry "I Hung My Photo next to Albert Pujols" Milliken went 5-for-5 bashing a home run, two doubles and two triples for four RBI to lead the Morays at the plate. Scott Russell singled three times and went yard, "The Fabulous" Al Difabio thumped a three-base hit and two base hits and Brant "Butters" Voss drove in three runs on a triple, double and base hit. Sporting a new coif, Bobcat "Rally Killer" Matthews and Chuck "The Wall" Malby each drove home two runs on two hits, "The Pride of East Lansing" Joe Graciak and Jim "Crazy Legs" Guynn each doubled and singled, Willie Morales doubled home two runs, Jeff Kurkowski and Tino Cubria ripped two hits apiece and Benny "Pocholo" Aleman gapped a single.

The Snappers scored six runs in each of their last two at bats, albeit too late, but they took advantage of the wind too, ripping five home runs.

Dale "Big D" Bittner hit back-to-back homers and doubled driving home three runs, Nick Myers had a perfect night going 4-for-4, highlighted by a home run, double and two singles, Dean Thompson drove in four runs via a homer, two-base hit and a base hit, Jay "Monte" Hall sent three teammates home on a pair of base hits, Hugo Valdez Sr. and Scott McCollum each singled three times, Tony Alfonso and Tony "El Bigote" Mendez nailed two base hits apiece, Rich Booth doubled and singled, Jeremiah "The Colombian Comet" Periard cracked a two-run home run as Javier Ferretti, Don Anderson and Francis Jaycocks each nailed a base hit.

RONCOS 29, JAIBAS 25

The nightcap turned out to be the highest scoring affair of the season, with a total of 54 runs scored.

Bobby "Hookster" Davila nailed a pair of home runs, his first a three-run shot and reclaimed his title of home run leader when he went yard in the sixth and added a base hit to account for seven RBI. Shaun "Turbo" Niles singled four times and tripled for a pair of RBI, Randy "Smoke Em" Okum went 5-for-5, going yard, singling three times and doubling.

But wait there's more.

"Diamond" Dave Sweeting nailed four base hits, Ricky "Washing Machine" Gonzalez ripped a trio of singles and also homered for four RBI, Chris Cassidy "And the Sundance Kid" drove in two runs on three hits, Jimmy "The Big Tuna" Hake drilled a two-base hit and three base hits, Joey "Jungle Rat" Diaz helped pile on the runs with a two-run shot of his own in the first and he singled for three RBI, Tommy "Lapp Dogg" Lapp doubled twice and singled, sending four teammates across home plate, Hugo "Papa Smurf" Valdez Jr., whacked a double and a singled, and last but not least, Thomas "Avocado" Haas added a base hit.

The Jaibas hung with the high flying Roncos for the first two innings picking up 11 runs on solid base hitting from the top of their lineup by leadoff hitter Matt "Whopo" McLellan, who went 5-for-5 at the plate with four doubles.

The Jaibas tied the game at 11-11 in the bottom of the second on Fatz Yaniz' three-run home run, his first of two for the night, and he also singled for six RBI. Mark Garcia was perfect at the plate with five hits, John Baltzell tripled, and doubled twice for three RBI, Rick "Light-N" Lively drove home four runs on three doubles and a single, Bobby "They Call Me Bobby" Lopez singled three times for a pair of RBI, Junior Guieb nailed two doubles and a single sending four teammates home, Mike Rivera ripped three base hits, Nick Hogan homered and Bruce "Slim Jim" Boros added a base hit.
