Cause of power outage remains a mystery

Utility officials do not know what caused a 20-minute power failure to all 27,000 Keys Energy Services customers late Sunday.

The power went out from Key West to the Seven Mile Bridge at 10:55 p.m. and all power was restored by 11:17 p.m.

The fault occurred on the transmission line between Marathon and Tavernier, in the Florida Keys Electric Co-Operative service area.

Anyone that lived here in the late '70's is happy it was only a 20 minute outage and is happy it has become a rare occurance.

The utility is another Bubba joke . They can't figure this

out, they charge exorbitantly high rates, and yet, they allowed Swifty to go into severe delinquency on the land they leased to him for speculative purposes, while he was making a big profit. I'm sure they restructured it for him at a very reasonable rate. Think they'd restructure even one of my big fat electric bills if I needed it? NO WAY.

High Bills

I agree. I think the someone should start a petition for the Florida Keys Electic Co-op to take over Keys Energy. Our bills will be reduced by half. They do have us by the balls. But if we could get another electric company, all them high faluting (sp??), overpaid employees could get paid like the rest of us.

THE ONLY MYSTERY HERE IS WHY CANT THEY KEEP IT ON?THEY STEAL FROM EVERY RESIDENT HERE WITH THEIR REDICULOUSLY HIGH BILLS!THEY SHOULD GET A 10,000 FINE EVERY TIME IT GOES OUT!WE PAY THEY DONT ???

on the bridges that throw fifhing line over the high line,that is causing some of these faults and will continue to cause them so get used to it or get a generator!!

that would be enough time to load a couple tons of square grouper into a shoreline parked semi ... Everybody is complaining "what happened to the 'ol days" ... maybe a sign that they are coming back. Cool!
