Key West opens Miami Dade season in Style

KEY BISCAYNE -- Key West Soccer Club Under-12 Boys' team opened a historic first season in the Miami Dade League with an impressive 7-0 victory over the Key Biscayne's AC Milan side. After a strong tournament season last spring, Coach Alex Yanovych decided to enter the team in the Division Two Dade league to provide the squad a challenging, competitive level.

The team took control of the game early on and never gave Milan a chance to recover. Scoring Key West goals were Fin Valle, Matti Sirikov, Adam Swiecicki, and Dario Sagastume with good midfield support from Patrick Matysik, Kody Tomita and Mathew Gilleran. Goalkeeping duties were split by Micheal MacLaughlin and Truman Berger, who both faced only a few shots on goal. Tough defensive contributions by Jack Behmke and Connor Chaney kept the Key Biscayne team on their heels.

Coach Yanovych said he was pleased with the outcome and referred to the victory as a "good start" for the Club's new season and venture into the Dade arena.

The team travels to South Dade Saturday to play their next two league matches with a noon start against a strong Shenandoah Club (1-0 in league play) and a 4 p.m. game against West Kendal EmpireU12 (2-0-0).
