Commercial services would support private mooring field off Wisteria
Wisteria Island soon could be developed and have a pay mooring field in Key West Harbor if the government approves the owners' most recent request. The Bernstein family has not yet proposed...

Another Spottswood-style move.

"He did not rule out building homes, and as many as 22 would be possible under the land-use change his family is seeking in an application filed with Monroe County last month. Current rules allow for two homes on the 22-acre island, one for every 10 acres."

Why does this remind me of a Spottswood move? If the land use allows two houses, it should stay that way. 22 houses? Geez. Look how many were built on that toxic waste dump called Sunset Key. AND none of those can be insured because those mega-palaces ARE all indeed built on a toxic waste dump. Idiots. Who pays millions for toxins?

Curious - have Clayton and other city commissioners been seen dining with the Bernsteins? Or are they having private dinner parties at home now, away from prying eyes?

Tank Island is a prime example of the thinking - and the money

to be made here. That's what this is about. Tank Island is indeed a toxic waste dump. And look who has a home out there? For one, Rick Hendricks. Did anyone TELL him he's got a home on a toxic waste dump?

Follow the money...

Follow Bob Dean.

Does anyone know what happened last time this happened?

I think I saw a blue butterfly on the island...

Sunset Key North

There's more than bums hiding in those trees... look for the Walshes to pop out when the Bernsteins get their approvals. Bet the house (22 of them plus restaurant) on it.

If you folks that live in the Keys

keep stealing people's land your taxes will be so high you'll have to live in Miami with the Cubans. And you rednecks ain't going to like putting up with that Miami crowd. You already hate them when they ravage the area every summer. Wise up fools.

I Can't Wait

to be the first to take a dump legally in the new restroom and purchase a Yoohoo from the shipstore. Hope they sell rolling paper too. Ever thus to deadbeats Lebiwski! That rug really tied rhe room together.

It's Lebowski

It's Lebowski and that rug really DID tie the room together. ;-)

Shell Game

They want to trade the sea bottom that they can't use for a mooring field for State sea bottom they can use for a mooring field. That would be NO!!!!!!

Here we go again! I hope

Here we go again! I hope they do develop it. It is ugly now with all the dead australian pines. The people who live there do not pay anything. I have to work 2 jobs to pay my rent. The biggest problem is all the bums living there would end up at Higgs Beach.

they live outside, with not

they live outside, with not AC you pay rent and live inside, that are not beating you, no need to be jealous

I can not understand your

I can not understand your comment. Please post it in English.

"Offshore Island"

Now, THAT is what is called an "offshore island".

sounds like Sunset key doesn't like

the view.

is this why FWCC is helping

to develop stringent mooring rules? to force boaters onto paid moorings?the fact you don't get to vote if you live on the city field is just WRONG

If the boaters organize

the city and FWC are going to have big problems, not all people living on boats are slackers as they might have you believe, most are responsible citizens. Hold jobs and adhere to the rules. Federal court has already ruled against municipalities

the city and FWC are going to have big problems,

You can say that again. but this time "we" intend to impose a burden on the city they won't soon forget ;~}! We tried to be nice, but if making "them" pay a hunk of cash is what it takes to meke them stop,,, WE'RE IN!

Yeah right... Live for free

Yeah right... Live for free on someone elses property and when they throw you out sue the city! Sorry your free ride is going to end.

Organize?

The Bernsteins have every right to develope their property to it's most profitable use. Who wouldn't like free rent and free moorage? Bucket and bail sewage dumping needs to stop, even if these freeloaders have to follow state law. Jobs? Sure, but this is not the wild west or the 1850's where you can homestead someone elses property.

You are mistaken

West of Key West is the "the wild west". No FWC , no Police, no Sheriff, the bums only get arrested when they come to land at the Historic seaport where they steal dockage , trash the marina, and sell drugs. Mark Tait's lack of enforcement has turned our "world class marina" into a BUM CAMP. The tenants complain and then are blown off and nothing happens . FIRE MARK TAIT !

We are not talking about stopping the Bernsteins from

developing their island, they have a right to do this , and yes , you are correct, the island is filthy and overrun with bums and trash. They need to go, what people are concerned about is being forced off their own ground tackle and onto overpriced mooring fields. Artifically creating profit where none existed before. The ones violating the rules are in the minority , most boaters are good stewards of their enviroment.

This is Key West. The only

This is Key West. The only thing organized are Bar Crawls.
