KEY WEST - It appears only three teams are left in the Jewfish League as the Morays have been no-shows the past two weeks leaving a void each Friday night, but the show must go on.
In the early and only game in Jewfish League action last Friday, the Roncos scored eight runs in their last at bats to pick up a 20-12 win over the Jaibas.
Both teams came out with smoking bats as the Jaibas gunned a three-run lead going into the bottom of the third. The Roncos countered with a two-out lightning scoring eight in the bottom of the third with multiple base hits by Joey "Jungle Rat" Diaz and John "Schleppy" Childs as they batted through the batting order.
A six-run deficit did not hamper the Jaibas as they came back with six runs of their own over their next two at bats to tie the game at 12.
The Roncos put the proverbial nail in the coffin in the bottom of the sixth scoring the eight runs putting the game out of reach of the struggling Jaibas for another mark in the win column.
Once again, the Big Hookster, Bobby Davila led the Roncos at the plate ripping a trio of base hits with a sacrifice for a pair of RBI. Schleppy Childs and "Diamond" Dave Sweeting routed three singles as Childs drove in two teammates, Jungle Rat plated two runs on two hits, Ricky "The Washing Machine" Gonzalez, Chris Cassidy (and the Sundance Kid) and Jimmy (The Big Tuna) Hake each drilled two base hits, Shaun "Turbo" Niles, Tommy "Lapp Dogg" Lapp and Mike "Blitz" Krieg each whacked a two-run single as Thomas "Avocado" Haas, Milton Roberts and Hugo "Papa Smurf" Valdez Jr. hammered a run-scoring single.
Matt "Whopo" McLellan and Rick "Light-N" Lively each roped three base hits to pace the Jaibas, Roberto "They Call Me Bobby" Lopez thumped a three-base hit and a two-base hit, Nick Hogan drove in a pair of runs via a double and a single, "The Outlaw" Jesse James and Fatz Yaniz each singled twice, John "Wonder Boy" Baltzell and Mark Garcia nailed a two-bagger, Junior Guieb tripled as Mike Ferrell, Bruce Boros and Stan "The Man" Griffith cranked one hit apiece.
