turn it up !

i love the sound of jets. jf

I live in Big Coppit, turn

I live in Big Coppit, turn on the after burners as you fly over the veloso building. We love it!!

Whiny liberals complaining

Whiny liberals complaining about jet noise. Do you prefer Russian or North Korean Jets flying over your house? Let them train. They're preserving your freedoms by flying. You must have something better to do you crybaby. I live on Big Coppit and love the noise. I understand what that noise means and what it preserves. Appreciate the service of the piolots and just suck it up for once in your crying liberal life.

Sorry Bubba, but being a "Whiny" Liberal

I just want to jump in and say most of us support the Navy and the Air Base. We love the sound of the Jets because they are the sound of Liberty and represent some of the best of our men and women in uniform. A good friend of mine who is probably the mosy Liberal person I know almost died in Viet Nam and is a Medal of Honor recipient.

Hammernuts

is a strange guy...He drinks water out of a decommissioned septic tank. Hammernuts promotes this and even brought the “How to” at a County Commission meeting.

Sal, you got it wrong AGAIN...

John H does use a cistern to store rainwater for his household use (including drinking), but not a decommissioned septic tank. A real cistern. Yes, he IS educating the public and the county commission on the use of decommissined septic tanks for water storage FOR IRRIGATION, not for drinking water. A whole lot of people think this and other conservation measures are a good idea. Why must you always have your facts wrong?

Most of those commenting...

... on this story are missing the point that the DoD has to follow the rules in performing an Environmental Impact Statement. Most of the commenters probably couldn't, or wouldn't bother to, read an EIS, much less recognize when one has been fudged. This is NOT a case simply of people moving near an airfield and then complaining about the noise. The impact, and the size of its footprint, were increased significantly by the switch to much noisier aircraft. The footprint grew to encompass areas which, and residents who, formerly were NOT impacted, in addition to a signifcant change of the impact to the areas formerly impacted. That Mr. Hammerstrom doesn't reside near the NAS doesn't mean he can't study the issue and have an opinion. Rules are rules, and the Navy's further examining how the EIS was conducted is proper.

Some of us do understand

Some of us do understand beyond the issue of people moving and complaining. Granted, the Navy should not be fudging the statistics, there will be a reason behind it if its true. The simple facts are the noise, carbon footprint, etc are supposed to be greater. But it boils down to the noise. Does someone living in Geiger Key really care about jet footprint. No they are concerned over noise and the possibility of crashing. Well the simple fact is, they still moved next to a Naval Air Station. Regardless of what planes are flying, there is still noise and still the possibility of crashing. When you look at EYW, its the same thing. There are different planes and different noise levels etc. People should know moving in next to an NAS, there is noise, no matter how high or low. No one ever puts in a contingency of "I'll only buy if they fly something less noisy than a F18." He needs to shut his piehole before the Navy yanks his pension.

When one invokes references...

... to shutting one's "piehole", it means they've run out of sensible things to say.

We call him

John the hypocrite up here in Key Largo...He's part of the group that just obstructs anything to do with anything here in the Keys....He's cost us millions in lawyer bills and wasted time. Check out his website.... http://www.johnhammerstrom.com/Sustainable_Keys/Click_for_Welcome_page/C...

Let them fly !

Tell the public to quit bitchin about the jet noise . Those young people flying those jets could be called to war at any given time and can use all the practice they can get ! Remember , they're fighting for our countries safty and freedom . SUPPORT OUR TROOPS , Steve Bowman :-}

Jets

These posted comments have nothing to do with the issue. Stop showing your ignorance.

Don't You Really Miss Those Quiet Old Diesel Submarines?

Let's hope they drop some napalm next time. Now that would be something to talk about.

Good Point

And don't you really miss those super quiet blimps out at the NAS!

What a numbnut. He needs to

What a numbnut. He needs to get a life and stop meddling in a matter that does not affect him. We shouldn't build anything near anywhere if we follow his logic. A house next to a highway can be destroyed by a car. He needs to worry about Upper Keys matters. And by the way, isn't he the stickler that almost killed the 18 mile stretch construction?

This guy and

County Commissioner Murphy did everything they could to kill the new bridge on the 18 mile stretch. Both then were honored guests at the ribbon cutting for the bridge.

John Hammerstrom

is a waste. How much time and taxpayer dollars has he wasted with all of these complaints and appeals? If it's correct that he actually lives in the Upper Keys he's even more pathetic... sounds like he's just trying to get some publicity by getting his name out there. I lived throughout the Lower Keys and loved hearing the sound of those jets. More and more people complaining now are transplants that have moved in AFTER they were already in use. Either do your homework and don't buy/rent a place where you can here it... or keep your mouth shut! I feel safer knowing they're training and would be able to respond to an incident, and would vote every time for them to stay put.

Mr.Hammestrom

Mr.Hammestrom lives in Key Largo, I just checked the property appraiser's website, he should NOT be giving any input on what's going on in the lower keys, he wants publicity and he is getting it! Let the sound of freedom roar!!!

What's right is right...

... and what's wrong is wrong... and one does not have to live nearby to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

love the jet noise : ) let it rip over my house

i love the sounds of freedom at work!!they were here long before we were.

Jet Noise

I guess its time to send the airshow to another base
