GREGORY D. SPRUNCK

Gregory D. Sprunck, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home in Poinciana, Fla.

Greg was born and raised in St. Paul, Minn., where he met his future wife, Audrey, prior to his enlistment in the Army during World War II. Greg's Army tenure included serving as a paratrooper in the European Theater with the 507th Parachute Infantry.

After the war, Greg was active in the Newport, Minn., community, serving as a city councilman.

A brief vacation in the Florida Keys in the '70s began the odyssey that would be their retirement. Greg and Audrey, in addition to a number of immediate family members, purchased property in the relatively new Venture Out at Cudjoe Key. Greg and Audrey were active members of the Venture Out community, playing tennis and simply living life to its fullest until Audrey's death in 1996.

Greg left the Keys and moved to Poinciana with his daughter Sharon in 2005.

Greg is survived by his children, Wayne (Helga) Sprunck, Sharon Gibbs and Linda Grayson; his eight grandchildren, Jon (Carolyn), Jessica (Bradley), Jennie (Richard), Amy (Andy), Christopher, Alexander, Patrick and Leia; and his great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Raymond, Ricardo, Lorenzo, Micah, Vivian, Armando, Blanca, Noah and Eric.

Greg will be interred with Audrey at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. He will be greatly missed.
