Hotel drops Radisson affiliation

The former Radisson Hotel Key West is looking for a new brand and will be known as the Hotel Key West until one can be found.

"Our franchise agreement with Radisson was coming up for renewal. The decision was made to not renew that agreement and to pursue another brand," hotel Managing Director Steve Robbins explained Monday.

are the ones trying to take YOUR tax dollars to line their filthy pockets, by enticing the people of Key West to vote a bond issue to give them profits up front before they even BUILT their proposed project (this disgusting, loser marina at the Mole Pier) and they also want Bed Tax Monies (which is illegal - can't give Bed Tax monies to a city, when it's A county DECISION). That's why it's important. You need to read behind the headlines, Bubba. Then you'll know the thievery that's afoot.

What a piece of crap - no wonder Radisson decided to pull away from this dump. Like so many in Key West they charge excessive prices to dumb tourists who arrive and find destitute buildings in terrible need of repairs and no service or support. Read the reviews all over the web about this place - past guests rant about how dirty the rooms are, how noisy the place is at night, how lousy the service is and worst of all, being bitten by bed bugs at night when told by management there are no such pests. HA! They are everywhere and if you think ANY stay in any hotel or guest house or vacation rental in tropical Key West is safe, think again. YOU may bring home these nasty creatures to your own home in your luggage and infiltrate your nice clean abode without ever knowing it - till it's too late and they are impossible to get rid of once they infest. Nasty hotel.

And the "most respected" family in Key West OWNS THIS!!! Can you imagine, the spottswoods are slumlords! Of course, they will continue to get whtever they want. Now the city is turning over Truman Waterfront to them so they can buuild a marina with our tax dollars!!! WAKE UP KEY WEST! These families are not helping our town anymore. They are ruining our reputation for their own gain!

To get Spottswoods the $$ they demand, two things must happen.

(1) A BOND ISSUE: We must vote on it, so vote NO. It's nothing but debt and we're asked to PAY the Spottswoods up front so they have no exposure? I don't think so. And

(2) THEY WANT BED TAX MONIES AS WELL. This is not legally possible, since Bed Tax monies are allocated for COUNTY projects and CITY projects do not qualify. Be sure to let your legislator know how you feel about this. Innkeepers, you're the ones who collect this money and it's meant to promote the destination. A high-end, AND EMPTY yacht marina is not going to help anyone. These yachties have chefs, staff, and I can promise they'll NOT be spending money on snorkel trips, or in restaurants, and they certainly won't be staying in any of our lodging facilities.

(Hmm....just realized. It appears that Morgan is running for State office? Guess the Spottswoods have given their hefty puppet a task - change the law on earmarking of bed tax funds, so that they can fund their casino/convention center project with OUR money, as well as their self-serving, bad-for-Key-West marina project.)

Don't they own the prison - I mean Beachside fiasco as well? All these huge plans they have. Hmmph. Makes one wonder who is left holding the bag. I'd say it's probably the bank except Spottswoods ARE 1st State. Would that mean the taxpayers will ultimately end up picking up the slack? Let's REFUSE to give a cent to anything Spottswood related such as the proposed STUPID marina at the Mole Pier. No bond issues! No debt! And no bed tax monies for Spottswoods EVER.

This is like the front page article on Ed Swift's boondoggle at the toxic triangle called the Steamplant

This paper can't find enough going on here in Drunkin Mayberry that it has to use it's headlines to advertize another of the Boss Hogg Family enterprises ???

Can someone direct me to the Ed Swift public library or the Spottswood wing at the local hospital??

These people just use and use and never give back and the Citizen is always their cheerleader

I read the story and didn't see where the citizen was cheerleading them. Seems like a pretty straight forward explanation. Sounds like you have a bias, not the newspaper.

While The Spottswood's wait for the economy to improve, these hotels continue to damage our tourist reputation. They are dumps! Moldy rooms, and nasty spaces. All over the internet, people post how miserable they are. Not good for our tourism business. Of course, in Key West the Spootswood's get whatever they want. Can you imagine the city giving you a 10 YEAR EXTENSION on planning approvals!!!! Now they have their sites on the Truman Waterfront for a Marina. Do you think they can finish one project before taking over another piece of the island!! I am sure The Raddison dumped them, not the other way around. Even a chain like Radisson will only allow places to deteriorate so far.

You can thank McPherson for this mess. He's in their pocket.

How else could a jobless man with no income, get mortgages in the sum of $1.5+ unless he had some other 'secret' income? He's been a Spottswood puppet, as well as a Cay Clubs and Cortex puppet. Now he's running for higher office and magically his foreclosures have disappeared? Hmm....me'thinks the Spottswoods are paying their puppet more money now.
