


Gibson installed as chamber president
Diane Gibson, vice president and corporate services business development manager for First State Bank of the Florida Keys, was installed as president of the Key West Chamber of Commerce.
She will work with the chamber to promote Key West as a tourist- and business-friendly community, advocating for new job creation, economic stimulation and local business development.
A chamber member since 1990, Gibson was elected to the board in 2002 and was named the 2008 Athena Award winner, a prestigious international award presented to women of professional excellence and commitment to the community.
Gibson also is involved in numerous community service organizations including: Rotary Club of Key West, Key West Business Guild, Lower Keys Heart Council, the Lodging Association of the Florida Keys and Key West, and the Key West Realtors Association. She is a graduate of Leadership Monroe County and ambassador programs from the city of Key West and the Key West Police Department.
Carstensen joins hospital medical staff
Dr. John Carstensen, a board-certified internal medicine physician, recently joined the medical staff at Lower Keys Medical Center.
For the past six years, Carstensen has practiced medicine with Iowa Health Physicians and Clinics, a large, multispecialty group in Des Moines, Iowa.
Carstensen attended the University of Iowa College of Medicine, which ranks among the top 10 medical schools for primary care education, according to a 2009 U.S. News & World Report study. During medical school, he participated in an aerospace medicine clerkship at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Carstensen is focused on providing adult primary care, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, high blood cholesterol and thyroid disorders. Centennial names Haberman Star Employee
Centennial Bank congratulated Amy Haberman as the winner of the bank's Star Employee of the Month award.
Haberman is the business development assistant in the Marathon main branch and has been with Centennial for more than four years.
Haberman also helps coordinate Centennial Bank's involvement with the Middle Keys Relay For Life and assists with the Hospitality Wagon events.
Doug Mayberry sales team welcomes Ducote
Kent Ducote has joined the sales team at Doug Mayberry Real Estate.
Before moving to Key West in 1987, Ducote was a Realtor with Latter & Blum's Historic Districts office in New Orleans, specializing in French Quarter properties. Ducote also will be utilizing his years of operational and administrative experience to assist in the continued expansion of the company.
Coldwell Banker Schmitt marks anniversaries
Several Coldwell Banker Schmitt Real Estate Co. sales associates and staff members achieved milestone service anniversaries in January.
Bruce Schmitt of the Marathon office celebrated 20 years. Schmitt has lived in the Florida Keys for more than 40 years, has been a licensed broker since 1973 and is widely known for his expertise in both residential and commercial real estate.
