City bans python on public property
Rules prohibit snakes, animals not regulated by feds

An 8-foot Burmese python named Squeeze is not always a welcome addition to Duval Street crowds, and city officials are enforcing the city's law that prohibits snake owners from using such reptiles in performances on public property.

Greg Scorza said he has retained a lawyer to fight the city, which he claims is trying to put him out of business.

Those who walk around with animals on their shoulders or heads

are just needy, and either looking for attention or for money. Those who walk (AND RIDE THEIR MOTORCYCLES) with birds on their heads and shoulders are putting the animals in danger from viruses, strangers, from being 'spooked' and possibly flying into cars and buildings. They're also putting unsuspecting strangers at risk because birds feel more empowered and aggressive when on a shoulder, than on a hand, well under eye level. The ASPCA should become involved because these people clearly are all about themselves, and not about these wonderful animals being exploited in this way.

And the snake guy? Creepy for sure!!!

Creepy Snake Guy

I have had dealings with this man as well and best describe him as a sleezeball. The only thing that will spook him out of The Keys is if the IRS were to take an interest in him.

Iguana man

Many years ago- there was a sweet old codder that went by "IGUANA MAN" He was a dear man who loved his animals. He will always be missed. His animals were his "babies" not on public display for him to use and abuse-throwing them on tourist for picture after picture. This man- and YES I have had numerous dealings with him, is a creep! He has no regard for the people that are frightened or uncomfortable around his animals. These are large -meant for the wild- beasts and the city should NOT allow this to happen any longer. Mark my words- there will be a tourist injury or other incident and if Key West has licensed him for this- we will be liable. Revoke his license. Give him back his money he paid for it. Simple.

Iguana Man

Yea, Iguana Man was nice enough, but he did use his iguana to offer photo-ops for tips. He used the window ledge at Billy's on Front street, where the herds were walking to catch the train. He made plenty of money off that lizard.

Once again the city can not

Once again the city can not handle anything right. I do not think this guy should be on the street, but you can not give him a license that says "snakes" and then change your mind! What a coincidence that the city commissioners store is where this guy hangs out. This city government is clueless. Outlaw all the stupid "performers". These guys are a joke.

why ban the guy, it's just a

why ban the guy, it's just a snake, most of the street performers kind of suck but its a free country, and if they are able to scratch out a living why should someone stop them

Well

Well its like this the guy is aggresive with his snake ,some people are afraid of snakes and pythons although not poisonous can deliver one hell of a bite. Some kid freaks the snake freaks kid gets bit.Any questions?
