


Key West Realtor installed on state board
Karen Lane, broker-associate at Prudential Knight & Gardner Realty in Key West, has been installed as District 4 vice president of Florida Realtors, the state's largest professional association.
Lane's district encompasses all of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, with more than 26,000 members. Her priorities include building member awareness of the many benefits offered by Florida Realtors, including its ambassador and high school scholarship programs, she said.
Lane previously served as 2009 president of the Key West Association of Realtors and was named its 2008 Realtor of the Year.
She began her career in real estate in February 2004 in Key West after having worked in the corporate world, most recently as national sales manager for Monster.com.
She was named the Key West association's Rookie of the Year in 2005 and has held numerous leadership roles and committee positions at both the local and state association levels.
First State Bank announces promotions
First State Bank of the Florida Keys recently announced the promotion of several employees.
Elizabeth Miranda was promoted to executive vice president/risk manager. Miranda joined the bank in 2007 and has 18 years of banking, auditing and regulatory compliance experience.
She holds an accounting degree from Santa Maria University in Caracas, Venezuela. She is a registered certified public accountant in Venezuela and is a certified Anti-Money Laundering specialist, risk professional and business manager.
Patti Snyder was promoted to counsel for special assets/legal officer. She joined the bank in 2008 as special asset analyst with extensive legal and business management experience, including positions in audit, private practice and senior attorney for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. regional office in Dallas.
She holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Arkansas State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law.
Shelley Lowe was promoted to senior collections coordinator.
Lowe was been with the bank since 2002, when she was hired as a commercial loan processor. She was promoted to collections coordinator in 2004.
Hospital names staff award recipients
The Outstanding Hospital Staff of the Fourth Quarter 2009 at Lower Keys Medical Center recently were chosen by staff and awarded by the hospital administration.
Outstanding Manager of the Quarter was awarded to Materials Manager Doug Pryor. He has been employed with Health Management Associates (HMA) for more than a year and is in charge of purchasing, supply storage and distribution for Fishermen's Hospital and Lower Keys Medical Center.
Outstanding Nurse of the Quarter was awarded to Kelly Hauser. She is certified as a circulating scrub nurse in the operating room and her surgical specialty is orthopedics. She transferred to the Key West hospital a year ago from Fishermen's Hospital.
Outstanding Employee of the Quarter was awarded to JJ Grazette, a certified phlebotomist in the laboratory, who has been employed at Lower Keys Medical Center for more than seven years. He is constantly being praised by his patients for his tender and outstanding care. He also won the hospital's Patient Favorite award for 2009.
