Roney tosses one-hitter, triples at the plate for Island Fence

KEY WEST - Brandon Roney threw a one-hitter striking out 10 batters while giving up only three walks and helped his cause with a triple and base hit to lead Island Fence to a 4-2 win over Friendly Cab in youth baseball action last week at the Clayton Sterling Baseball Complex.

Danny Galvan legged out an inside-the-park home run and blasted a base hit as Lazaro Valdez and Brenden Perez each singled for the winners.

The cabbies' Peter Estevez had a good night on the mound fanning a dozen Island Fence batters, but he gave up the four runs on six hits and five base on balls. Kyle Clark broke up Roney's no-hit bid with a base hit in 8-and-9 year old action.

BOONDOCKS 6, GARRISON BIGHT 5

Jackson McDonald tossed six and two-thirds inning of work striking out 11 to help Boondocks get past Garrison Bight. David Stanyer thumped a three-base hit and singled, Dariel Flores doubled as Kyler Palmeno, Justin Walton, Zack Hill and McDonald each singled.

For Garrison Bight, Demi Stiglitz homered in the park, tripled and doubled, Peder Bidonne singled twice and Jordan Parks, Khalil Barnes, Jacob Jolly and Anthony Cabrera slugged one hit apiece. Barnes started on the mound fanning nine over three and two-thirds innings and Jolly mopped up with five Ks.

ISLAND FENCE 9, KELLY ENTERPRISE 7

Island Fence only produced one hit, a single by Brenden Perez, but took advantage of 13 walks off two Kelly pitchers to win the game. On the mound, Lazaro Valdez struck out nine in relief to claim the victory.

Joshua Coyle doubled and singled to lead Kelly, E.J. Typaldos ripped a two-base hit and Alonzo Ridgeway and Tommy Morales each singled. Ridgeway struck out seven but walked 10 yielding the lone single.

FIRST STATE BANK 13,

GARRISON BIGHT 12

The bankers had to rally for four runs in their last at bats to take the one-run win. Ryan Keane legged out an inside-the-park home run, doubled and singled, Cody Hallman and Mike Guldin both hammered a two-bagger as Kainoa Lopes, Jonathan Faatuai, Angelo Mendieta-Kuhn, Nicholas Goldberg, Callan Carn and Enrique Hernandez all roped a base hit.

Anthony Cabrera paced Garrison Bight with a trio of base hits and a double, Demi Stiglitz hammered two triples and a single, Jacob Jolly out ran everyone for an inside-the-park home run, Khalil Barnes thumped a three-base hit and Peder Bidonne and Diego Dunning both singled. Jolly threw four plus innings of relief striking out five.

FIRST STATE BANK 25, ISLAND FENCE 5

First State Bank scored 11 runs in the top of the fourth to run away with the contest. Ryan Keane singled twice, Callan Carn roped a two-base hit and a base hit as Enrique Hernandez, Nicholas Goldberg, Mike Guldin, Rafael Vera, Noah Goins and Kainoa Lopes each singled.

Brendan Roney singled twice to lead Island Fence at the plate as Lazaro Valdez and Nathaniel Dunn roped one hit apiece.

KEYS INSURANCE 8, FRIENDLY CAB 7

Jonathan Wells struck out eight over two and a third innings as he teamed up with Michael Mayor to throw a one-hitter. Mayor tripled and smacked a base hit and Eric Gartenmayer stroked a single.

For Friendly Cab, Angelo Nieto singled to break up the no-hitter. Garrett Hughes struck out eight in three innings of relief.

BOONDOCKS 8, KEYS INSURANCE 5

David Stanyer roped a two-base hit and a base hit to lead Boondocks, Zack Hill and Jackson McDonald each doubled and Kyler Palmeno and Dariel Flores cracked one hit each.

Although Michael Mayor struck out 10 Boondocks' batter, the Keys Insurance offense could not get going. Eric Gartenmayer smacked a two-bagger and singled and Mayor added a base hit.

10-12 YEAR OLD

LIONS 10, DION'S 9

Tied at 8-all after six innings, Lions scored two and held off Dion's for only one run in their last at bats. Christian Luna went yard twice and nailed a two-base hit for five RBI as Ty Hughes singled and rammed a double and Zander Burns gapped a pair of base hits. Hughes threw the final five innings in relief striking out nine.

For Dion's, Clayton Van Styr and Marcus Brisson each doubled and singled knocking in one run apiece, Matthew Age nailed a run-scoring single and Jack Hill drilled a base hit. Dion's starting pitcher Michael Cleaver struck out six.

ELKS 11, VFW 3

Elks' Antonio Knowles doubled and singled and Joseph Casasola added a base hit.

Matthew Herrington slapped an RBI single and David Gonzalez doubled.

SHRINERS 12, LOCAL AWARDS 9

Aaron Peterson doubled and singled driving in one run to carry the big stick for Shriners. Christian Lee and Alex Cabrera both doubled and Jacob Elomina singled.

A.J. Cromwell drove in three runs on a two-base hit as Andrew Hetu, Frankie Cohens, Kyle Snow and David Sainer all whacked a base hit. Cromwell went the distance striking out five.

ROTARY 10, VFW 5

Rotary scored sixth in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away for the win. Patrick Lopez drove in two runs via double and a single as J.T. Keane and Louis Quad each singled. Quad fanned six over three plus innings of relief.

Patrick Spencer and Matthew Herrington both nailed a two-base hit and a base hit as Kent Clark singled.

MATTHEESSEN'S 4TH OF JULY 13, LOCAL AWARDS 9

Andrew Karch doubled and singled and Patrick Edwards roped a pair of base hits to lead Mattheessen's nine-hit barrage. Dylan Rodriguez doubled home a run and Hunter Mattheessen, Randy Garcia, Carl Allen and William Anderson each singled.

For Local Awards, Andrew Hetu, Frankie Cohens and A.J. Cromwell each singled.

SHRINERS 5, ELKS 2

Hunter Sellers went the distance on the hill for Shriners striking out six giving up only two hits and two walks, and he helped his cause with a pair of doubles. Aaron Peterson and Christian Lee each doubled and Alex Cabrera and Quinton Carson-Emily walloped one hit apiece.

Damon Taylor and Antonio Knowles each doubled. Taylor threw four innings on the mound striking out eight.

ROTARY 8,

MATTHEESSEN'S 4TH OF JULY 5

Donnovan Mompoint drove in three runs on two hits, J.T. Keane and Louis Quad each nailed a two-base hit and a base hit, Patrick Lopez doubled and Pater Ortiz singled.

Mattheessen's Randy Garcia and Hunter Mattheessen each singled twice, Jancer Reyes ripped a two-run single and Will Anderson cracked a base hit. Dylan Rodriguez went the distance for the restaurateurs fanning six.

LIONS 7, DION'S 6

Lions starting pitcher Christian Luna struck out eight and he roped a triple and two base hits for four RBI. Ty Hughes doubled and nailed a base hit as Carson Hughes and Jeromy Homerston both singled.

Michael Cleaver fanned nine for Dion's giving up only one base on balls. Offensively, Matthew Age, David Flores and Victor Coleman all singled.

PONY LEAGUE

DENNIS PHARMACY 9, PEPSI 5

Dennis' Roscoe Mosblech went yard, Nicky Walker-Yhap and Johnny Hornyak each singled twice, Steve Wells and Brandon Presley both doubled and Trevor Pike singled. Wells went four innings on the hill striking out seven for the win.

For Pepsi, Joey Figueroa, Shayne Alongi, Juan Soza, Jacob Beeman and Justin Gregurich all slapped a base hit.

ANDERSON OUTDOOR 9,

FIRE FIGHTERS 8

Anderson's Ray Garcia led his team at the plate stroking a trio of base hits and he doubled. Zack Hughes roped a two-base hit and two base hits, Vasilis Bourzikos gapped a pair of base hits and Jesus Rojas, David Rodriguez and Greg Veliz each singled. Rodriguez threw three and two-thirds of relief striking out seven.

Luke Miller singled three times, Chris Cohen doubled twice and Anthony Henriquez, Javier Sequeira, Joel Conde and Alan Greager each singled. Henriquez started on the hill for the Fire Fighters fanning six over four innings of work.

FOP 16, ALL KEYS GAS 3

Tony Estenoz ripped two doubles and a single, Hugo Valdes and Austin Kibler each singled twice and Ryan Evans hammered a two base hit and a base hit as Chase Renner and Gustavo Gallo both singled. Kimbler struck out six going the first three innings on the mound for FOP.

For All Keys Gas, Jack Gruba doubled and Alex Albritton, Kevin Smith and Justin Mock nailed one hit apiece.

DENNY'S 16, ALL KEYS GAS 6

Yobani Valle walloped a pair of doubles, Andrew Freeman cracked a two-bagger and singled, Caleb Shockley rammed two base hits and Nick Berry smacked a base hit.

Jack Gruba doubled and Garrett Osteen and Kyle Bahnick each singled for the gas house gang.

ANDERSON OUTDOOR 7, DENNIS PHARMACY 6

David Rodriguez singled three times and Angelo Guieb roped a base hit for Anderson Outdoor. Greg Veliz fanned five for Anderson.

Dennis' Roscoe Mosblech, Cameron Carey and Trevor Pike each hammered a base hit.

DENNY'S 9, FIRE FIGHTERS 5

Denny's cranked out eight hits and the defense turned a triple play to finish off the fire eaters.

Aiden Mannix-Lachner and Yobani Valle each singled twice, Darren Miller roped a two-base hit and a base hit, Andrew Freeman whacked a double and Nick Berry singled.

Fire Fighters' Cody Leach, Luke Miller and Joel Conde each singled.

FOP 10, DENNIS PHARMACY 10 (TIE)

Dennis Pharmacy's Roscoe Mosblech drove in four runs on a trio of doubles and single and he fanned six over three and two-thirds innings on the hill. Steven Wells cranked a two-base hit as Brandon Presley, Trevor Pike and Juwan Brown each singled.

Ryan Evans doubled and Austin Kimbler and Hugo Valdes both singled.

DENNIS PHARMACY 13,

FOP 5 (TIE BREAKER)

The pharmacists broke up another tie with an eight-run fifth to ensure someone won this game.

Roscoe Mosblech singled twice, Nicky Walker-Yhap, Trevor Pike and Cameron Carey each singled.

For FOP, Lee Schoonover and Gustavo Gallo each ripped a double and Hugo Valdes and Tony Estenoz both nailed a base hit.

INSTRUCTIONAL LEAGUE

RAMONA'S 15, MOOSE 9

For Ramona's Gabriel Rodriguez singled three times for Player of the Game and Moose tabbed Matthew Duval who legged out two inside-the-park home runs.

ISLAND CITY FLYING SERVICE 14, WALGREENS 8

Jake DeSloover singled twice for Player of the Game honors for Walgreens and Daniel Varela homered twice in the park for Island City Flying Service.

POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE 13, JON'S 12

Andre Otto was named Player of the Game for PAL and Nelson Sawyer singled twice for Jon's Player of the Game.

SUNRISE ROTARY 15, MCDONALDS 7

Sunrise Rotary picked Nicholas Girshan as Player of the Game and Angelo Pena was tabbed by McDonalds.

MASONS 14, IMAGES BY ALLISON 12

Dean Ippolito tripled twice and singled to be named Player of the Game for Masons as Daniel Rodriguez singled twice for Player of the Game honors for Images by Allison.

SUNRISE ROTARY 13, MOOSE 9

Daniel Torres was picked Player of the Game for Rotary thumping a pair of base hits and Dylan Olive was picked Player of the Game for Moose as he legged out an inside-the-park homer and doubled.

MASONS 17,

ISLAND CITY FLYING SERVICE

Sean Croitoru singled twice for Masons' Player of the Game honors and Chance Bornman, who roped two base hits, was picked by the flyers as Player of the Game.

MCDONALDS 15,

IMAGES BY ALLISON 13

Logan Pellicer homered twice in the park for Player of the Game honors for Images and McDonalds picked Zachary Eubank.

RAMONA'S 14, WALGREENS 10

Preston Herce singled and was picked as Player of the Game for Ramona's and Walgreens' Logan Camacho ripped a two-base hit and a base hit for Player of the Game.

Jonathan Bahri doubled and singled for McDonald's Player of the Game and the Flyers picked Asher Sargent who thumped a three-base hit and a base hit.
