


Singleton heads Citizen advertising team
David Singleton has been named advertising director for Cooke Communications publications, including The Citizen, Solares Hill and the Free Press Community Newspapers.
A 20-year veteran of the newspaper industry, Singleton came to The Citizen from The Daily Reflector, a 22,000-circulation daily newspaper in Greenville, N.C., also owned by Cooke Communications, where he served as classified and online manager.
Market Share hires new coordinator
The Market Share Co. announced Kathy Watkins as its new marketing coordinator. Her duties will include developing media relations, coordinating events, securing sponsorships and funding, Web site and Internet optimization, and acting as a media liaison.
Watkins returned to Key West two years ago from Atlanta, where she completed her Master of Business Administration, focusing on international marketing, and spent two years in outside advertising sales. She also has more than eight years' experience in sales and operations management within the hospitality industry.
The Market Share Co. produces the annual Fantasy Fest event for the Monroe County Tourist Development Council.
Fogarty joins utility's advisory committee
The Utility Board recently appointed Chris Fogarty as the District 2 (Key Haven to Big Coppitt Key) representative to Keys Energy Services' Advisory Committee. Fogarty is a local building contractor who resides in Big Coppitt Key.
The five-member committee was designed to provide the board and staff with community input on various issues related to the utility, including generation, distribution, finance, customer service and new ventures.
Henry Hamilton previously represented District 2 and termed out of his position after serving two consecutive, three-year terms.
First State's Forant celebrates 10 years
Theresa Forant celebrated her 10th anniversary with First State Bank of the Florida Keys. She was hired in 2000 as a teller and became administrative assistant later that year. She was promoted to loan processor in 2009.
Also, Customer Service Representative Kim Decker was named the bank's Employee of the Quarter.
Decker, who works in the North Roosevelt Boulevard branch, was recognized by her manager and fellow employees for her initiative, proficiency and great attitude with co-workers and customers. She started with the bank in 2006, bringing eight years of previous customer service and retail experience.
