3 vie to oust 16-year incumbent

The race for the Monroe County School Board District 5 seat finds three candidates with divergent backgrounds hoping to uproot the woman who has served in that position for the past 16 years.

While incumbent Debra Walker said she has weathered the Acevedo storm and was part of the solution, her critics say the financial debacle happened on her watch and think it's time to...

There are three evil females in our school district!

Monique(Sexy Crotchless Ride Em Cowboy Girl Outfit)Assovedo, Deb Pelosi Walker, And Sunny (Challenge day)Booker. ONE DOWN AND TWO TO GO!!!!! WALKER GOTTA GO WALKER GOTTA GO WALKER GOTTA GO. SORRY JD NO MORE ""EEEEAAATTTS FOR THE CHEEELDREN""!

Please please please!!!

This is not a run-off; this is THE election. If the three opponents REALLY care about getting rid of Walker and improving our schools they must unite behind one and against Walker. Do not split the vote or Walker wins and the children and taxpayers lose yet again. Please, if you three challengers really mean what you say, prove it! Gives us one lone hero and thus ensure success! Cut a deal and agree on who should run, in so doing you will all prove that you are worthy of our votes unlike Walker. Thank you!

Ron Martin & Bruce Swango Must Drop Out-They Are The Problem.

They will make no difference on the School Board. They are the same as Walker. School District devotees to the core. BRADLEY is the only hope that the students, taxpayers and parents have...

Walker Disgraced & Shamed Herself & Our School District...

She did not want to do anything about the 'school scandal'. Walker impeded the investigation and fought against measures to safeguard our children and taxpayers. She is part and parcel of the 'culture of corruption'. She does not belong on the school board.

Bradley's Only Interest The Academic Advancement of All Students

Debra Walker is a clear and present Corrupted Politico. She got the job 16 years ago by bowing down and cowering before the political machine in Key West. Her first interest has NEVER been the welfare of our children. She is a rubber stamp for the 'district regime' and allowed the thefts and confiscation of our money to occur on her watch. Other two school employees running for the school board, are unfortunately cut from the same cloth. Bradley will do the job for all of us.

BRADLEY SPEAKS THE TRUTH--PARENTS & KIDS SOLD OUT.

All the Monroe County Schools are "Dumbed Down". Colleges and Universities must serve these "Dumbed Down" students; they have no choice or they will have to close their doors. It's difficult for parents and the students themselves to recognize and accept this reality. However, 'All of the Data', available to anyone who wants to review it, verifies this fact. Delusional parents and students perfer to believe the lies and deceptions that have been perpetrated upon them by the current Monroe County School Board. Debra Walker must not be allowed to harm us any further. The other two candidates are part of the problem as well.

Community needs to rally

With so many people in the race, voters need to be united so Walker doesn't squeak in because of all the votes divided among the other candidates. We need change!

Too bad three are running...

... against Walker. With three opponents, it'll be harder to oust Walker, and she needs to go. She seemed about the least of all the school board members to be concerned about the Acevedo debacle.

Anybody but Walker

Martin lost his job by downsizing and may be to much of an insider-- Swango is a retired math teacher--- Bradley is who??--I hope they have some debates.

Shame on you, Mr Bradley

As a resident of the Upper Keys and a parent of three children who have attended schools in the Upper Keys I need to share with you that you don't have my vote!!!! After reading your platform you might need to apologize to every teacher who works at our upper keys schools and every parent who sends their students to our schools. What you said in the article is WRONG!! Coral Shores High School is rated a 9 out of 10 on Great Schools.com Mr Bradley check it out at their web site! We have A and B rated schools in the upper keys. Every school can be improved, however, to say our schools are failures is NOT TRUE. All three of my children are attending respected colleges and universities and they are doing quite well. My three children attended Upper Keys Schools (starting in Kindergarten and they ended their high school career by graduating from Coral Shores). My children are doing well in college. All three received scholarships too! I understand that you only recently received your US citizenship. How long have you lived in this community? Do you realize how many people you have offended by land blasting our schools?. I want to know your experience. Anyone is a fresh face that shows up! We need much more than a fresh face! Plantation Key School and Key Largo School are great schools too. Please voters choose from the other candidates based upon their platforms. Americans are getting tired of negative campaigning. Mr Bradley, you are turning more people off and not gaining any respect when you do not offer real solutions only negative retroic!!!!! Do not vote for Bradley!!!

Turns out to be Ron Martin

Well what a shock, "Upper Keys Parent and Taxpayer" turns out to be none other than Ron Martin. See the post submitted earlier which is signed by Ron Martin and uses the identifier of "Upper Keys Parent and Taxpayer". Well of course you are not gong to vote for Bradley, you are also running for the School Board. You try to hide who you are by pretending to be just any upper Keys parent.

do you mean lambasting?

That's funny , high school career, only in the Keys is attending high school a career, whats the best 3 years of Monroe county high school graduate? the 10th grade. I've never seen schools who have so many graduates who are in their 20's. What part of being 42 out 50 in ranking don't you get? Being the best of the worst isn't an accomplishment. Or am I just spouting retoric?

Whoa

State of Florida rated #42 out of 50 - bottom of the scale. Education in the entire State of Florida is an embarassment. Your kids are products of a broken educational system both local and regional. Wake up.

Debra Walker tries to re-write history, sorry NO

Debra Walker claims she was involved in solving the scandal problems, let's get the facts straight. In the 2006 campaign, she took campaign contributions equaling several thousands of dollars from Acevedo, Henriquez and Fraga. She was one of Randy Acevedo's hand picked candidates when he tried to rig the School Board. As John Dick and Steve Pribramsky asked more and more questions, she became louder and louder with her objections to the "Micro Managing" Once the scandal broke and the investigation began, she complaimed about the cost of the forensic auditor and legal counsel. She argued to hire the least expensive internal auditor available and and let's not forget that when the School Board pressed for an explanation from Monique Acevedo's direct supervisor, Frankie St James, who sent her attorney to threaten the Board, Debra Walker wanted to offer St James an apology. Wanting to shift blame to the State auditors really says it all about this woman's inability to lead an organization and to fairly represent the people. Finally, I certainly hope the new internal auditor investigates the $13,000 of reimbursement money she got from the school district. She says she cares about the taxpayer's money, sure she does, as long as it is going into her pocket.

Walker did all she could to BLOCK the investigation and to

support the crooks. She should've been recalled right there on the spot. I find it rather arrogant that she would run again. She's part of the cabal of crooks and will NOT be elected.

Bradley May Be the Only One Who Will Not Be 'Business As Usual'

"[Walker] clearly cannot balance a budget, with several years of poor fiscal management and poor judgment, which reduced the $12 million reserves down to around $4 million," he said. "[Martin and Swango] should be apologizing to their former students they failed, and not be seeking to bring their poor administrative talents to a wider Monroe student body."

Bradley's lack of experience with Monroe County schools is not a disadvantage, he said, but rather his strong suit. Calling himself "a fresh face with new blood," Bradley said he has not been "tainted" by the district's recent fiscal mismanagement.

Lets hope that Walker is beaten like a drum for her complicity by running cover for Randy and Monique & Co.
