They differ on director's spending

No one expects the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District television show to rival American Idol, but the show's lack of viewers and content has become an issue in this year's Mosquito Control District races.

Voters want to know if the district, which will take in $9.4 million in tax dollars this year, is spending its money wisely and why district Executive Director Ed Fu...

Get Rid Of Fussell

Looks like it's time to get this arrogant jerk out of office. He is not interested in the mosquito situation in the keys... except to get more money for he and his minions. IT'S TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE!! Fussell is totally void of reality with his request for budget increases. He's a "gotminer" with attitude. While many in the Keys are not getting raises and working on DECREASING bugets, this a$$wipe wants to spend spend spend. It's time for someone to actually MANAGE the mosquito department, and stop using it as his little kingdom. The best thing for the Keys residents would be to get rid of this slimeball and get someone in place that understands the department needs to move in a new direction. Like a rest of the incumbents that are going to be saying bye bye on election day... Bye Bye Fussell...we'll all be happy to change your 'status' to a no-seeum!

Playing us all

I have been at the same job for over 5 years. I run an apartment complex. The first 3 years here I had at a minimal a monthly visit from the Mosquito Control people, checking all the drains, checking for mosquito breeding hotspots and numbers, studying the wet lands in the back etc. Not so for the past 2 years. Why? Barely at all this past year...why? I have had to call Mosquito Control out more than once in the past few months for them to work to control the wet lands- never before have I had to request this...why? The city has not grown any in land mass, so why less service? Could it be to "show" us the NEED for more people? I agree there is a need, a need for DIFFERENT people, and this may very well include the over paid director. Last election I was torn a bit in my vote for Papy or her opponent because I thought the MCB was doing a fine job and she had been there for pretty much all of it, but I liked her opponents words of less cost- lower budget- lower administration and that IF raises were to go to anyone, it would be to the hard workers in the fields.I did not choose Papy. I will be quite vocal next election MCB members, stop spending!!!! Start working as a team and work on killing and controlling mosquitos and their deseases like you have for years before!

What everyone misses here is

What everyone misses here is that the whole system is a boondoggle. The mosquito district is a legislative concoction that needs to be repealed. Very few other counties need a well paid (with benefits) elected commission of morons to decide how to kill mosquitos. We could saVE MILLIONS (in the idiot director's salary alone)by making this a regular government function. Ron Saunders, where is your leadership?
