Candidates pledge efficient protection

A local attorney and a retired teacher will face off in the Aug. 24 primary in an attempt to gain the District 5 seat on the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District board as the Republican candidate.

The winner will face Jose Peixoto, an independent, and Bob Thomas, who lists no party affiliation, on Nov. 2.
