


Hernandez re-elected to state utility board
Members of the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) re-elected Lou Hernandez as secretary of the board of directors for 2010-2011 at the agency's annual meeting.
Hernandez has served on the board since 2007, and this is his second term as secretary.
He also chairs the Utility Board of Key West. Hernandez has been a member of the board since 1997.
Sutton awarded fundraising certification
Dianna Sutton, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, has been awarded recertification by Certified Fund Raising Executive International.
Sutton originally received her certification in June 1995 and has kept it since then.
She has more than 20 years' experience in nonprofit management and has been with the foundation since 2004.
To earn the recertification, candidates must demonstrate ongoing practice and achievement as professional fundraisers, continue their professional education and serve philanthropy.
Holiday Isle hires managing director
Bob Van Bergen, 62, took over duties as managing director at Holiday Isle Resort in Islamorada last month. He came to the Florida Keys from The Shores Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach.
"My goal is to work with ownership and management to see through the repositioning of the hotel with a higher quality of service and product," Van Bergen said, adding that he expects his biggest challenge to be "to keep the fun and the spirit of the property alive during a time of redevelopment."
Van Bergen previously was general manager at the Old Bahama Bay Resort in Grand Bahama Island and managed the Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, S.C., the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla., and the Reunion Resort in Orlando.
Marshall joins Upper Keys Rotary
Patti Marshall, manager of First State Bank's Key Largo Tradewinds branch, has been admitted to the Rotary Club of Key Largo.
Marshall has been with the bank for 13 years. She also serves on the boards of Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys and Florida Keys Down Syndrome Association.
