The department also will provide an update on how it is furthering its ongoing mission to protect the neighborhood. In addition, officers at the meeting can provide crime prevention information.

Cruise ship diverts to Key West

The cruise ship Inspiration made an unplanned port call Tuesday in Key West, docking at the Outer Mole from 1 to 10 p.m.

The ship carried approximately 2,300 passengers. It is the sister ship to the Imagination.

Unscheduled cruise ships mean added revenues for the city's budget -- a welcome income as the city nears the end of a tight fiscal year.

The city projects a budget based upon scheduled ships, so when weather or other reasons turn ships to this local port, it adds unforeseen disembarkation fees to city coffers.
