In the evening, a fireworks display was held at the aviation grounds at the Trumbo Railroad Yard.

The Drake Lumber Company of Princeton, Fla., shipped a carload of lumber to Key West to be the first car of freight to arrive in the city. It was sent to the mayor and sold, with the proceeds going to charity.
